Unit 1 Sleeps 4: 2 Bedrooms, 1 full Bathroom with shower in tub. Two private entrances, hardwood floors throughout, central AC with forced air heating, acoustic ceilings, WIFI, piano, Comcast Cable HD flat wall-mounted smart 47" TV in the living room and lovely large long windows that let in natural light throughout the day. Parking is available for 1 cars in rear parking area.
The large Master Bedroom has a Queen size four poster cherry bed, bureau, bookcase, ample walk-in closet, desk in five-windowed writing area—windows on three sides with view of front gardens and quiet coastal city street, and a period marble fireplace (non-working).
The Second Bedroom has built in bookcases and large double doored closet, four doored storage cabinet, a cherry-framed futon that opens to a full bed and art/craft work table. The room can serve as a reading or work space or play area during the day.
Marble Bathroom has sink with cabinet, wall cabinet, toilet, and shower in marble-walled tub, with towels, hygiene supplies and hair dryer.
Kitchen has granite counters, stainless steel appliances including counter deep refrigerator, gas stove top and oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, French coffee press, Melita coffee cone for filtered coffee, tea pot, and pantry with supply of dry goods.
I unit washer/dryer is behind a door beside the kitchen for easy access.
Dining Room has three sides of glass, windows and doors, and retractible Roman vertical shades for privacy or view of the gardens as you choose, with Queen Ann oval cherry table and chairs for six, with an extra table leaf to expand the table for additional seating as needed, and a traditional corner glass-doored china closet.
A short pleasant hallway, with recessed wall area with marble shelf and wine cabinet, offers a view from the dining area of the Yamaha upright piano in the living room.
Living Room has French cherry furniture including a camel back sofa, love seat, and Queen Ann chair, flat screen HD smart TV, WI-FI, dvd-player and the Yamaha piano and bench with many selections of piano music, and a cherry three-shelf bookcase. The living room opens to a small formal entryway.
The private formal entrance is along the start of the long pebbled driveway and accessed by the large roofed Federalist porch with mahogany flooring. Ring the original door chimes as you enter and see the convenient coat closet, for outerwear storage, before you enter the living room on the left.
The Master bedroom is entered from the right of the entryway and is very quiet and private from the remaining rooms in the unit.
Window treatments in all rooms are adjustable Roman shades that can be raised or lowered in the bedrooms, or glided to the side in living room and dining roo to meet your wishes for views or privacy.
The Private Back Deck is rimmed with window boxes of seasonal annuals, has a Webber outdoor propane grill, comfortable high back folding chairs and table for relaxed outdoor dining for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
A magnificent mature Giant Red European Beech tree provides lovely shade for the landscaped areas and rear pebbled parking area. Maples and other deciduous trees rim the property. These and ornamental shrubbery and garden beds are cared for by the owners. Shade and sun-loving plants share bloom times throughout the blooming season.
Ample parking is available in the rear of the property, including for 1 car for unit 1, while on- street parking is available for visitors.
Bicycle with cover can be stored here if you wish to use it during your stay.
A common roof deck offers seasonal water views of the Merrimac River. You may find the short walk to the corner an easier walk than up four flights of circular stairs. Continue your walk north on Lime, the nearest cross street, for a couple blocks through the historic South End to the Merrimac River in less than a minute, for a full view of the River after walking by historic homes in this small seaside city.
Walk a third of a mile west to Market Square, the center of the sea-side city of Newburyport or rent or launch your kayak at the public boat ramp at Joppa Park, just one-third mile east toward Plum Island, walk or ride 2.5 miles to Plum Island Nature Reserve and beaches or ride 3 miles across town to Maudslay State Park with hiking, biking and riding trails.
Stroll along the Merrimac a couple of blocks to the Tannery or a little further to Market Square. The Tannery is a local shopping center boasting the Jabberwocky Book Store, Eureka—a great toy store, restaurants, gift shops, Farmers' Market and more. You can rent a bicycle at Riverside Cycles at the Tannery for the afternoon or day to explore the area. Take a short walk, about 1/3 of a mile soeast to Joppa Park to sit with a book on the public lounging chairs as the Merrimac River flows by.
Take an art course at the Newburyport Art Association 1/4 mile away, even if you are a beginner, or visit the many art galleries in the city.
The property is 0.35 miles from Market Square, the center hub of Newburyport, 0.1 mile from the Tannery, with its restaurants, gift shops, Black Duck convenience store, and 1.2 miles from the commuter rail (for travel into Boston’s North Station) and Tendercrop Farms with fresh farmed, beef, pork, chickens, flowers plants, and produce. You can picnic among the flowers. We are surrounded by antique shops, art galleries.
Borrow binoculars from the Joppa Flats Education Center to get close up looks at birds that have been sighted in the Nature Reserve by the Plum Island Beaches or lie on the sand or swim at Sandy Point or search for driftwood, sea glass or shells.
Sightsee up Route 1A to view the rocky and sandy coast at Salisbury, Seabrook, Hampton, Rye, Portsmouth and Kittery. You can ride Amtrak's Down-Easter along the coast of Maine from Exeter, NH or Haverhill, MA.
Shop in Newburyport’s bookstores, antique shops, and boutiques and travel to Rockport and Gloucester or Manchester by the Sea on Cape Ann, traveling through farms in Newbury and Rowley, Seafood and Crane’s Beach in Ipswich, Antique shops and shipbuilding museum in Essex along the way.
Take in a movie at Newburyport’s own small theatre, The Screening Room, or cross the Chain Bridge to Salisbury multiplex movie theaters.
