The drive up the mountain is easy, however on the “35 miles” on HWY 40, there will be many sharp curves (180 degree turn) so be aware. We recommend using (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map to navigate with a good screen size navigation system so you can see the turns ahead on your screen even at night time.
We are at 8500 feet in the Colorado Rockies, and snow is common from November to April. During these months we highly recommend snow tires and 4WD/AWD vehicles for maximum safety. Grand County keeps the roads cleared, but it's always best to be prepared for snow conditions.
