Who are we?
Thomas and Ilse were both born and raised on farms in Germany. They moved their family to Quebec, Canada in 1987 and then to Rossburn, MB in 2002. Owners of the Ketelsen Ranch, an 1,100 acre ranch located north of Rossburn their herd consists of 60 Black Angus cows (and their calves in summer), 25 Tennessee Walking horses and 4 dogs. Ray, their son, lives at the 9 Finger Ranch guesthouse a few miles out of Rossburn.
Thomas fell in love with riding while still in Quebec (he blames his daughter - she wanted a horse!). Ray has been riding since he was a little boy. Both have twice been to Banff National Park for horseback riding experiences.
Your guides, Thomas and Ray, love to go riding in Riding Mountain National Park. Thomas won a contest put forward by the Canadian Registry of Tennessee Walking Horse in 2009 by riding 1000 km during that summer! When not busy haying or working on the ranch, you can find Thomas riding his horse in the Park or in the field while checking on his herd. Ray has worked in Banff as a horseback guide for a summer where he got the taste of sharing his love of riding with others.
