This house is new to VRBO but has garnered over 30 glowing reviews on Airbnb since opening up to travelers in 2015.
Our unique 1920's bungalow sits on a very private rolling 2 acre property framed by grassy lawns, lush perennial beds, stone walls and beautiful shade trees; A perfect escape for families, naturalists, artists, and other creative professionals...
The tastefully renovated cottage is available year-round for short or long-term vacation rentals and offers guests a secluded escape from the daily grind. Writers, composers, visual artists and anyone just looking to unwind will find inspiration in the tranquility and natural beauty that surround the property and in the smartly laid out cottage interior which provides ample space for both work and relaxation. An enchanting nature-based play-scape including swings, rope swing and a sandbox was added in 2015, making this an ideal destination for families. Other outdoor amenities include a private pond with a small sandy beach, an outdoor shower, a bluestone patio and hammocks for lounging, and a fire-pit and grill with picnic tables.
Inside you'll find a plush and inviting open concept living and dining space filled with art and antiques. Expansive windows provide abundant natural light and views out to the gardens and pond. There are three comfortable bedrooms, small, medium and large, which ideally sleep 6-7 but can accommodate up to 8 guests with a travel crib or blow-up mattress. The single bathroom is small but includes a full tub and shower. Down bedding and Egyptian cotton linens and towels are provided, as is firewood for the wood-stove, (there is also a forced-air furnace). The house stays remarkably cool in the summer months due to wide eaves, but AC units are provided in the bedrooms for extra comfort.
The location can't be beat and offers complete privacy and a rural feel, all within a 50-mile drive of the city. No car? No problem- the Shortline Bus will deliver you from Port Authority to the top of our long private drive in under 1.5 hours. Nearby natural and cultural points of interest include Storm King Art Center, Dia Beacon, Jones Farm, Blooming Hill Farm , Hudson Highlands Nature Museum, Harriman State Park and Bear Mountain, among others. Please note that winter use of the house requires an AWD vehicle or studded snow-tires. Plowing is provided but you must be prepared to deal with the elements.
