Property Description

Leave your troubles behind and bask in the beauty of nature. The National Park begins a short walk up the road. Enjoy stunning hiking trails into a desirable, but little known area of (south) Joshua Tree.

A landmark straw bale house with a single bedroom with a queen size bed, a 'great room' with single trundle beds (2 beds) (possibility for others to be added) and a lush garden with big vistas of desert and mountains. A very restful place used as an artist residency most of the time.

Perfect as a romantic couples getaway or for a group. By evening cozy up to a crackling fire in the courtyard. Cook your meals in the well-equipped kitchen and snuggle into soft covers by night. There are ample fresh linens for a party of four. (Additional beds could be added.) In the morning sip fresh brewed coffee while staring into expansive vistas in every direction. The large picture windows overlook far away mountains and desert. This is a landmark straw bale house with a 16' vaulted ceiling. Hot tub located in an enclosed courtyard just outside the bathroom.

Art as Life!

What a beautiful space to retreat to from the craziness of our world. Our stay was perfect from the yummy Joshua Tree coffee left for us by our host... to the visually rich art inlaid everywhere you looked....and so many more sweet touches which made this house a perfect place to stay for us. My husband and I came here for a romantic birthday weeke... Read More

Sublime: the house, the setting and Eva Soltes herself.

The fact that you're staying in a place that the amazing composer Lou Harrison's built just adds to the awesomeness of the experience. The house is simple and aesthetically exquisite as befits an artist's home. Eva has done a great job of preserving the spirit of natural wonder and creative inspiration that surely drew Harrison to this spot. Just m... Read More

Amazing!

My 5 friends and I had an incredible weekend at this beautiful, unique property. We got to enjoy Joshua Tree by day, and the hot tub, great kitchen, and beautiful space outside by night. I couldn't imagine us returning to Joshua Tree and staying anywhere else! And I must second the comments about it's great energy - wonderful!

Loved it

We loved this house made out of straw. Fabulous artworks dotted around the gardens, the most interesting shower I've ever seen, wonderful location on the edge of the park, great hot tub to sit and look at the stars at night. Eva was welcoming and friendly and nice. Plus, at the risk of sounding new-agey, the whole place has a really good energy.
