Hi, I'm Dave Scott, your host here at Clyffe House Cottage Resort. I am the fourth generation of my family to welcome guests to our beautiful valley on Mary Lake in Muskoka. Since 1885, we have been providing a safe, fun and affordable getaway for families across Ontario and more recently from all over the world.
In the Summer, we cater to families. Our shallow, sandy beach is ideal for children. In Spring and Fall, we specialize in family reunions and special events such as triathlon training weekends. With thirty-one bedrooms spread over nine units, we can accommodate up to 62 people. Our large 5-bedroom units can seat up to 40 people in each of their dining areas !!
Why stay with us? Clyffe House is located just two hours north of Toronto in the heart of cottage country. We are surrounded by scenic hiking trails, stunning golf courses, and great restaurants. Our guests also enjoy visiting Santa's Village, Huntsville Heritage Place (Pioneer Village) and Algonquin Park; all are only a short drive away!
Our package price includes: kayaks, canoes, pedalboats, electric motor boats, windsurfer, sailboat, tennis, beach volleyball, horse-shoes, campfires, children's playgrounds, 100 acres of trails, and many other activities. We include free propane and free firewood for the fireplaces and firepit.
Spring & Fall
In the spring and fall, Clyffe House specializes in group bookings, but is still available for weekend or mid-week getaways, romantic holidays and other types of single unit accommodations.
The optimum size for a large group at Clyffe House is 30-40 people; however, we can accommodate up to 62. The â??Main Lodge Aptâ? living room is typically used for large meetings, presentations, dances, meals and other activities. The â??Dining Room Apt.â? lving room/dining area is used for group meals. Each of these two â??apartmentsâ? can seat up tp 40 guests for meals.
One popular pattern is to have a caterer serve up to 40 people in the â??Dining Room Aptâ?. Then. while the caterer is cleaning up after dinner, the group moves next door to the â??Main Lodge Aptâ? to socialize (or have a meeting or a movie or a dance).
The Annex was built to accommodate more guests during the booming tourism period in Muskoka after World War I. The Annex had 22 guest rooms. Now only the lower floor is rented; the upper two are used for storage. With over 80% repeat business every summer, the â??Annexâ? has a unique stone fireplace, 1200 square feet on one floor; a 50 foot veranda with view of Mary Lake, and a sunny, eat-in kitchen.
Fishing in Mary Lake & Huntsville Area
Mary Lake is full of small fish that are easy to catch! There are plenty of Small Mouth Bass, Sunfish, Perch and Rock Bass that live under the Clyffe House dock. All you need is a fishing rod and some worms. Donâ??t have a fishing rod? Just ask and weâ??d be happy to loan you one of ours!
Mary Lake is for more serious anglers as well. In the spring, large Lake Trout rise to the surface to feed. In the summer, Small Mouth Bass and Northern Pike are the most frequent catches. Clyffe House has two small fishing punts with electric motors that are available on a first-come, first-serve basis at no additional charge.
The most popular baits are worms, minnows and leeches and can be purchased at local Port Sydney stores such as Zanettiâ??s or Deanâ??s Hardware or the Ultramar Gas Station.+ More
