My home is a warm, charming, historic cape set on ten acres in the woods, clean, comfortable and artistically decorated with eclectic art work, antique and older furnishings. The property is in a private setting, lush and park like during the summer and fall months, and transforms into a snowy wonderland during the winter months, when cross country skiing can be done right out the door. Three quiet, playful older goats who inhabit the small barn behind the house can be seen grazing from the house.
The house is suitable for families with children older than ten, and the house cannot accommodate pets. The house can most comfortably sleep five, but there is room for seven if the sleeper couch or two extra single mattresses are used. There are two second floor bedrooms up a STEEP staircase with a bannister, one with a king sized bed and one with a queen sized bed. There is a modern bathroom with a shower between the two bedrooms. Downstairs there is a third bedroom with a twin sized bed, and a sleeper couch in the living room. There is a second bathroom across the hall from the small bedroom, with a tub and hand held shower. The kitchen is older, but has all the necessary and convection oven, side by side refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. There is a very bright living room area which looks out into the yard, a small deck, and the woods. The living room has a television with BASIC cable (NOT EXPANDED}, a CD player and a DVD player. There is a full dining room with a large table which seats eight. The house has central air conditioning on the main floor and window unit air conditioners in the two upstairs bedrooms. In the winter there is both oil heat and separate zone electric heat upstairs. There is a wood stove in the main kitchen/living room area.
The house is down a long private driveway and there is a parking area but no garage.
In the shed there are four bicycles. Kayak rentals are nearby in Wickford Village, ten minutes away. There is a short loop trail in the woods on the property, and there are numerous nice hiking trails very near by. Bicycling on country roads is right out the door, and a great official bike path is several miles away. There are two golf courses five minutes away. Many beautiful Rhode Island ocean beaches are 20-25 minutes away. The beauty art, music and culture of historic Newport is 20 minutes away. Providence and Mystic are each 25 minutes away. Several quaint, villages with antique shops, shopping, art galleries and kayak and sailing opportunities are within fifteen minutes away (Wickford, East Greenwich). Rhode Island has several excellent summer theatre and concert opportunities, notably the Newport Folk and Jazz festivals, Labor Day weekend Rhythm and Roots Festival and many others. The house and rural Exeter are of interest to history buffs, and there are several historic cemeteries in the area. Although the property feels "away from it all", Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, grocery stores, Home Depot, and many excellent restaurants are within a ten minute drive.
If one desires to do NOTHING at all, other than read, or relax in a serene natural setting, where the comings and goings of deer, birds and other wild life can be observed this would be the place !+ More
