Narrows Watch is a spectacularly simple cottage -- straight out of an Andrew Wyeth painting. The views and decor capture the very essence of a Maine summer house by the shore.
The cottage has been featured in several national magazines, as well as a book titled simply "Summer House".
It is nestled on a hillside in the tiny village of Machiasport, just a hop, skip and a jump from historic Liberty Hall and the historical society. It overlooks the estuary where the Machias River meets the Atlantic Ocean and is just a short drive to Jasper Beach, Grey's Beach or the town of Machias.
The home itself is gloriously 'semi-unplugged', making it a true retreat. The small gourmet kitchen features a commercial stove and fridge and amazing soapstone sink (but no dishwasher).
There are three bedrooms upstairs -- a queen, double and twin - sleeping 5 people comfortable.

Because you should know before you go...
***The three bedrooms are upstairs and the one bathroom is downstairs
***There is one small television in one bedroom that plays dvd's only.
***There is currently no internet -- the owners currently use their cell phones as a hot-spot when they are using the house. Cell reception is very good in that area.
***There is no washer or dryer at the house -- there is a laundromat about 4 miles away.
***The staircase to the bedrooms is fairly steep and narrow -- as staircases often are in beautiful old homes.
***The bathroom has a wonderful clawfoot tub/shower combination.
There is no need to fight the summer crowds in Bar Harbor!
