Property Description

Private, three bedroom plus bunkie, 2200 square foot raised cottage on the shores of Eagle Harbour, Lake Huron. The main living area of the cottage has cathedral ceilings, pine v-match panelling, pine floors and large glass windows facing the lake. Off the living room is a separate dining room with adequate seating for six. Adjacent to the dining room is a fully equipped kitchen with lots of counter and cupboard space, as well as a dishwasher, microwave and fridge and stove. There are large sliding glass doors leading from the dining room out to the lakeside deck. On the deck there is a table, umbrella and chairs. From this deck there is a good view of the lake and sunsets over Lake Huron. Down the hallway there are three bedrooms and two recently renovated bathrooms bathrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed, while the second bedroom has two single beds, and the third bedroom has one single bed.
On the ground floor there are full laundry facilities, including a washer and dryer. There are 2 bathrooms at the cottage , 1 four piece and 1 two piece with a sink and toilet. Outside, you'll find the bunkie (with electricity)- complete with a double bed, table and chairs, it's perfect for the older kids in your group or for more privacy for you.
The cottage is located in a private setting. To the north, the nearest cottage is located 1000 feet away and to the south there is a cottage located 100 feet away but it is well screened by dense cedar forest cover. On the road side of the cottage is a grassy area, gardens and a patio space with table, chairs and BBQ, so you can cook up the perfect summer meal! The lake side of the cottage is completely natural with only foot paths leading to the lake. At the lake the shoreline has a natural channel which was carved out of the limestone rock during the last Ice Age. The shoreline consists of flat limestone rock which angles into the lake. A dock projects into the channel, but due to lower water levels it is not suitable for docking a boat. The bay is dotted with little islands, shoals and pools. This is a great area to explore with a canoe - and there is a canoe supplied with your stay at the cottage! The cottage is located near the end of a dead end gravel road. The lands on the opposite side of the road form part of Bruce Peninsula National Park. This is a great area for bird watching and quiet walks. The scenic village of Tobermory is located 13 km away. Take time to visit and stroll through the shops in the village, visit the library, restaurants and the beautiful natural harbour, or take a scenic boat cruise where you can view shipwrecks, lighthouses and visit Flowerpot Island. Dinner cruises aboard the Chi-Cheemaun are also very popular. For hikers, naturalists and scuba divers, the area is a dream!

Quiet and Relaxing

A very enjoyable week. We did several local trips, but the main purpose was to have a quiet week, and this was achieved fully. Reviewed by Stayed: October 2011 Source: RentCottage

Could be wonderful... but isn't right now

With a bit of a heavy heart I write this three-star review, because the owners seem to be lovely people, the rental experience was flawless, and the cottage itself is quite nice. The grounds and cottage itself are great, but it has two problems, of which only one is really the owners' fault and could be easily rectified, the other one is a bigger i... Read More

Beautiful wilderness retreat

Beautiful location overlooking a bay on Lake Huron. West-facing deck provides great sunset views over the water. One neighbouring house visible from driveway, but otherwise you feel like you have the whole wilderness to yourself. 200+ feet of rocky shoreline, private dock. Canoes are included, and the water is very calm in the sheltered bay. Be awa... Read More
