Located at the foothills of the Tug Hill Plateau in Williamstown, New York, this unique rental is the perfect spot for the outdoor enthusiast— - and freshly-made maple syrup!. Housed in the front section of an old 1939 dairy barn, the accommodation has a unique view overlooking the pond and shows some of the old corner timbers from the original structure. It offers comfortable accommodations for 7-8 people and is perfect for small groups or families that wish to cook their own meals and have a nice large area to just hang out in and relax.
We are located in an area rich in agriculture and wildlife recreations. Approximately 20 minutes away is the world-renowned Salmon River where every fall Chinook and Coho Salmon make their way home to spawn. Salmon fishing is one of the top sports in the Tug Hill region of New York.
Another popular tourist destination in the fall, local apple orchards offer a variety of apple-related activities, including pick-your-own apples, haywagon rides and apple-themed festivals. A number of these orchards are within a 20-30 minute drive from us.
We also have a small antique cider press (1866), so, in the fall, we oftentimes will go out and gather up apples from the wild apple trees in our “orchard” and press them for homemade cider. If you’ve never had freshly-pressed apple cider, you don’t know what you’ve been missing :-)
In the late winter/early spring (approx March/April), we open up our on-site sugarhouse and fire up the evaporator. When Mother Nature decides it’s time, the maple sap starts to “run” — Dave can be seen gathering maple sap from our 100-tap sugarbush and boiling down to make the “liquid gold” that New York State is known for.
Since we realize that pets are party of the family, we have also opened our lodge to pets; well-socialized and vaccinated pets are welcome to stay with their humans and enjoy the lodge and its trails as well. If you’re interested in bringing your pet along, contact us for more information and what’s required in order to make it a problem-free vacation time for you…and your pet :-)
