I've been renting this studio since 1988 and have hosted thousands of visitors over the years. The ones who love our unit and return again and again are those who are just looking for a base to explore the North Shore of Kauai from and who really appreciate being at a nice complex like the Cliffs Resort.
So, the first and most important thing is that this unit is at The Cliffs Resort, which has a desirable location on the Northern Bluffs of Princeville. Our unit is located in the building the furthest from the Bluffs, but the bluffs are still just a 3 minute walk away. Our unit is the simplest kind of unit you can find at The Cliffs Resort- it is not a view unit- you can see in the pics it looks out on trees and the very end of the parking lot. But what I want to point out for the new visitor is that what it offers over many of the other affordable places two people coming to explore the beauty of the North Shore might check out is being at The Cliffs Resort. The are many reasons being at The Cliffs Resort is an advantage: the attractive location along the bluffs, the lovely grounds, plenty of parking, and amenities such as the remodeled pool, tennis courts, plentiful gas grills, small gym, and adults only hot tub. And for guests who would like a little help planning adventures on Kauai, the Cliffs has an Activities Desk that you can go to during the day and which also holds morning orientations with free snacks on weekends. So, having rented this unit since 1988, what I really want to say, is that if you are coming to Kauai to spend your time out of the unit enjoying the stunning beauty of the North Shore, and want an affordable place to stay at a nice complex, I think our studio is a great option.
You'll notice I've gotten this far without mentioning the unit itself. That is not because it's not a nice unit, but because I've found over the years that the people who love this unit and come back to it love it because it is affordable and at the Cliffs. But it is a nicely furnished unit 2nd floor unit, with a King Bed, full bath, small fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. It's simple, and meant for 2 people who are looking to be out most of the day and just want an affordable place to come back to at night before going out and exploring again the next day. Our unit gets lots of afternoon sun, especially in the summer, and so on hot days it can stay warm into the evenings. So I don't encourage people who are planning on spending a lot of time inside during the middle of the day and early evening to rent the unit, especially during the hotter months, but for people who are looking to be out exploring most of the day and who aren't daunted by waiting for the ceiling fan and sliding door to do their things when they do come home at night I think our unit is a great value.
Other things to note about our unit and The Cliffs Resort: Our unit shares a front door with another studio that is across the hallway from it. Of course the door in the hallway leading into our studio is a completely private entrance. We ask guests to remove their shoes in the hallway so as to avoid track the red dirt of Kauai as well as sand into the unit. Happily for many guests, our unit has a Washer and Dryer in the hallway that is shared with the studio across the hallway. For guests staying more than a few days, this can be a very nice plus, as very few studios on the North Shore have access to laundry, and there are no laundromats on the North Shore. The Cliffs Resort provides wireless throughout the complex- this can be especially nice if you want to be online while lounging down at the pool. The Cliffs Resort provides Pool Towels to our guests,- but they are only for use at the complex.
