This Vashon Island beach cabin is an amazing escape to a wonderful and relaxing place, away from the hustle and bustle of Seattle. With just a short 15 minute ferry ride from West Seattle, or the 25 minute water taxi from downtown Seattle, you will be transported into a beach paradise.
This is a family cabin that was bought in 2011 by two friends from high school and was remodeled over an entire summer. This place is all about the SANDY BEACH BEACH BEACH!!! We are lucky enough to have a sandy beach right in front of our cabin fine enough to wiggle your toes in. Regardless of the tide, you will always have a sandy beach to relax on.
This daily rental is comprised of one floor. The floor plan is totally wide open except for the one bedroom and bathroom. With hardwood floors throughout, you enter from the covered porch into a galley kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. To take advantage of the views at the cabin there are 5 large windows that wrap the east side of the house to fully expose the wonderful views of Puget Sound. There is a dining room table with room for 6 directly off the kitchen that holds amazing views of the Sound and the ships that travel up and down the waterways. Off the dining room is the living room with a pullout couch, coffee table and recliner chair. There is one step to a lower area we call the sun porch, but is just a lower area that has a king bed and an area for kids to play. The bedroom is in the back of the house and has a queen sized bed with a bunk bed attachment. The bathroom is good sized with a tub/bath combo. The bathroom has a two door access, one from the bedroom and one from the main cabin.
The max the cabin can sleep is 6 and an infant, and that would be pretty crowded.
One king bed in the main living area
One queen bed in the bedroom One pull out sofa in the living room
There is a crib for infants
This it is not a fancy cabin with tile, granite, and stainless steel appliances, but a simple cabin used as an escape from the daily hustle and bustle that is just that, a simple cabin with a focus on getting away. There is no internet access and no cable TV, but there is a very small TV with a DVD player. There is some landscaping in progress on the front of the house facing the water. We have some unsightly black tarps up as we finish the landscaping.
This cabin is great for a family of all ages, or just a couple or friends. Kids that go to bed early can go into the bedroom and parents can stay up later in the main living area and sleep on the king bed on the sun porch. It is also great for anybody wanting to just get away from Seattle, or a vacation from out of town. By the time you take the ferry from West Seattle, it can take as little as 45 minutes door to door from downtown Seattle or the airport. The cabin is conveniently located in just a 15 minute drive from the Vashon ferry on the north side of the island. Also there is a ferry on the south side of the island from Ruston (North Tacoma) and is a 25 minute drive once you get off of the ferry. Once at the cabin it is just a 5 minute drive to “downtown” Vashon where you can enjoy restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, a movie theater and much more. Don’t blink as Vashon is a town with only one four way stop. With such easy access, you can invite friends out for the day as we go out there for day trips.
PARKING: Parking at the cabin is available in the parking pad at the top of the property which can easily hold two cars. To access the cabin you go down the right (south) side of the parking pad down concrete stairs with a hand railing to the main cabin. The stairs are not easy to get down as they are not uniform and have varying degrees of incline.
BEACH: To get down to the beach there are wooden stairs all the way to the beach that also have a hand railing and not as challenging as the stairs from the parking lot to the cabin. On the way down to the beach there is a wonderful sitting area with chairs to enjoy views of the Sound, read a book, or eat a meal. Once down on the beach, depending on the tide, there are several options. During high tide you can take a right and take a short walk down the beach. On low tide you can take a walk in either direction, and if really low there are tide pools for exploring sea life. In the summer there is great salmon fishing right in front of the cabin and you will often see people out in boats or casting off the south shore of the point.
If you are looking for a quick getaway, family escape, vacation, or retreat, you will not be disappointed. We have enjoyed this place for 5+ years and know you will enjoy it as well.+ More
