Shawnigan Lake is the ideal place to vacation or go for a weekend getaway and this beautiful home has all you will need to relax just 45 minutes from downtown Victoria, B.C. There's a large, private dock with covered boat slip accessible in late spring, summer and early fall that has a great outlook of the lake on this tranquil bay. It's lovely to swim from or enjoy water sports in summer. In winter and early spring the lake rises allowing you to literally kayak from the front yard. Two kayaks and a canoe are available for guests year-round.
The house is located on a nearly one acre parcel of wooded property where you are sure to see plenty of birds, including eagles that like to perch nearby, and it is a five minute walking distance to the Trans Canada trail. It's a two-minute drive from West Provincial Park. The four bedroom, two-bathroom house was recently renovated to create a large main floor open concept space with a modern kitchen and gas fireplace. Downstairs was also renovated to include a new wood-burning stove and a second lounging area. As a bonus, a games room was added upstairs with a ping pong table that converts to a pool table. From here you can walk out to a deck that is ideal for Al fresco dining with convenient built-in side table with a corian countertop. A barbecue is also available in summer.
The dining deck adjoins the main upper floor deck, running the width of the house, which is an inviting spot to sit back and relax in the comfy deck chairs or outdoor chaise. There's also yet another deck off the master bedroom with outdoor seating and a hammock available in summer. In summer an unheated bunkie provides additional sleeping space, so the house can accommodate 8 in summer and 6 easily year-round. There's two queen size beds in the main house, and a third queen size bed in the bunkie in summer. Also, in the main house is a bedroom with two twin beds and another bedroom with a sofa bed.
The furniture throughout the home is stylish and with three good quality sofas - comfortable enough to sleep on - there's plenty of seats for guests to gather together.
Two televisions with cable service and wireless internet keeps you connected to the outside world but if you choose to unplug and simply socialize there's lots to do indoors. The homeowner has provided plenty of DVDS, books and board games.
The house is located a five minute drive to Shawinigan Lake Village and a 15 minute drive to Brentwood Bay so it's ideal for families visiting students at either Shawnigan Lake School, or nearby Brentwood College.
The Cowichan Valley is also well known for its wineries so this is a great place to come with friends and take in a tour of the nearby wineries.
There's so much to do in the area and the homeowner will be happy to make suggestions of places to visit, such as the nearby Kinsol Railway Trestle Bridge. Although this house is new to the rental market, the homeowner rented another house from 2010 to 2016 at Shawinigan Lake and takes pride in providing a clean, comfortable relaxing home for guests to enjoy.+ More
