This cottage features 75 feet of private waterfront on beautiful Lake Simcoe at prestigious Big Bay Point, a short drive from downtown Barrie and just 45 minutes from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The Lake Simcoe region is a favourite year-round holiday destination with many area events and attractions. The two storey, 2200 square foot air conditioned cottage offers spectacular views overlooking the sparkling waters of Lake Simcoe and Kempenfelt Bay. On a clear day the night time stargazing is priceless and the morning sunrises are some of the nicest in Ontario. This four bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage is a marvelous vacation choice for families or small groups looking for a comfortable and relaxing vacation. It's board and batten exterior, knotty pine and stone interior, soaring ceiling heights, and wall of windows provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. You enter the cottage on the main level where you will find an open concept kitchen, dining and living room with plenty of large bright windows providing excellent views of the lake. The open concept allows for easy conversation between those in the living room, dining room or kitchen. The living room area features comfortable furniture to unwind in, a wood burning fireplace, cable TV, radio and DVD. A great spot enjoying an evening movie with your family. At meal time the dining table comfortably seats eight people at the pine harvest table. There is a patio door from the dining room that provides easy access to the large screened in 3 season Muskoka Room where you can take advantage of the view, relax with a good book, or enjoy a cup of tea and catch up with family members. From the Muskoka Room you can access the spacious grassed rear yard and 400 square foot rear deck. The kitchen is clean, efficient and well equipped with dishes, cutlery, fridge/freezer, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, blender, coffee maker, tea pot and toaster to satisfy your vacation meal needs. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer for your laundry needs during your stay. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms in the cottage. There is a king bed in the master bedroom and bunk beds in the other bedrooms (a single over queen, a single over double and a single over single). One bathroom is a 4 piece (sink, toilet, tub/shower) and the other bathroom is a 3 piece (sink, toilet, shower). Outside the cottage on the rear deck there are six Muskoka chairs and two loungers for relaxing, and a patio table, umbrella, chairs and propane BBQ for your outdoor grilling. The deck is perfect for taking advantage of the view, catching some sun, relaxing with your book and/or favourite summer beverage. The deck makes a perfect gathering spot for the cooks. After you have grilled your favourite vacation meal on the BBQ, you can sit down to enjoy a family outdoor dinner. The large rear lawn is a great place for kids to play. Be sure to bring your outdoor yard games or use the outdoor play equipment and sand box. At the end of the yard near the shore there is a firepit where you can enjoy evening campfires, roasting marshmallows, taking in the starry night sky and sharing stories with friends and family. It’s just a short stroll to the water. There is 75 feet of private lake front with a 20 foot dock and a small sandy walk-in beach area. The shore has sandy and stone sections. The water depth increases gradually to about 5 feet at the end of the dock. (Young children always need to be supervised near water). The dock is the ideal spot to catch some rays, relax with a good book and take in a great panorama view of the lake. If you prefer take a dip in the lake, or bring your fishing gear and try your hand at fishing from the dock. There is a canoe with paddles and lifejackets that is available for you to explore the Lake Simcoe and Kempenfelt Bay shore line. The cottage sits at the mouth of Lake Simcoe and Kempenfelt Bay in one of the quietest areas along Lake Simcoe. You are about 15 minutes by car to restaurants and shopping in Barrie and it’s also only a 15 minute boat ride from the cottage to downtown Barrie close to everything yet still far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet. If you would like to get out and explore the area, you will find plenty to see and do. Minet's Point Park is a favourite spot for bird watchers in the spring and fall, the waters of Kempenfelt Bay are a magnet for outdoor water sport enthusiasts including windsurfers, and kite surfers and kayakers, many Provincial Parks are easily accessible, and there are several beachfront parks a short drive away in Barrie and Orillia. The 265-passenger Serendipity Princess paddle-wheeler offers daily sightseeing cruises and Dinner/Entertainment cruises leaving from the Barrie town dock. Major stores, a wide variety of shopping, dining, entertainment, arts & culture events and attractions are available nearby in both Barrie and Orillia.
