Your way-better-than-hotel-experience is here at Charlotte's Annex. Enjoy an immaculately clean, private-entry, stand-alone studio space with everything you need hosted by a warm, welcoming family of four. The Annex has a super comfy bed, wifi, full cable package and offers extra touches like delicious locally roasted coffee, homemade muffins and jam, and high quality amenities. We're just 10 minutes from downtown Olympia on one acre in a semi-rural setting with organic garden, lawn, and ample parking.
The Annex is situated in a stand-alone structure adjacent the main house with complete privacy. You have your own private entrance to the Annex. When you get here, we hope you’ll find everything you need for a pleasant stay.
The Annex is equipped with a very comfortable queen sized pillow-top bed with soft linens and comfy pillows and blankets. There are two comfy wingback chairs, a carved wood coffee table (go ahead, put your feet up), and a small round wooden table with two chairs. Blow-up bed (with linens) available in the closet. You’ll also find an iron and ironing board in the closet and ample hangers.
We offer hi speed Wi-Fi, a full cable package with HBO, Starz, Cinemax, Encore, and NFL Redzone during the football season (Go Hawks!). There’s a 48” flatscreen television with swivel arm from the wall so you can watch from your seats, the table, or the comfort of your bed. There’s even one of those sit-on-bed-armchair-whatchies so you can sit up in comfort.
The bathroom is a fully functional ¾ bath, but nothing too fancy. There are soft towels and soap, shampoo, and conditioner provided. We’ve put toothpaste and toothbrushes and a couple of other extras in there, in case you forgot yours.
We offer a kitchenette-type set-up with a small refrigerator, fully functional toaster oven (you can cook chicken in there!), hot plate, electric kettle, and microwave. Really, it’s everything you would need to make a meal happen, if you were so inclined. Basic pots and pans and cooking utensils as well as plates, bowls, cups, flatware, and cloth napkins.
There’s also some very basic kitchen products - olive oil, salt & pepper, sugar, pancake batter (enjoy our favorite, local Snoqualmie Falls batter), syrup, a couple of sodas in the fridge, etc. Help yourself!
Coffee, we consider very important. It is the Pacific Northwest after all, and Olympia lives up to the coffee fame. Use the coffee pot to brew the provided locally roasted coffee from our favorite spot, Batdorf and Bronson. Basic coffee condiments provided (splenda, coffeemate, sugar), half and half available on request.
The yard immediately outside the Annex sliding glass door is yours to use in privacy; we’ll not be using the side yard at all while you are here. Enjoy your coffee or tea in privacy at the outside table.
You are also welcome to enjoy the larger shared yard, lawn, sandbox, basketball hoop. We invite you to share in the seasonal bounty of our organic garden. We always grow at least potatoes, peas, basil, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, kale, winter squashes, and melons. It all just depends on what is “on” when you are visiting. This year we were buried in raspberries all through June and into early July. Strawberries get going in earnest by June. At the time of this writing we are eating zucchini at almost every meal. Please enjoy and take only what you need.
Finally, the large shop is a partially-shared space. The locking door from the Annex bathroom opens into our shop. If it's too rainy for outside playing, you are welcome to have your kids (or you!) play in the play loft, which has a big ole pile of Legos, a kid kitchen, wall-sized chalkboard, a small-sized air hockey table, and several other odds and ends, I am sure. Also feel free to use the Ping-Pong table and dartboard. Endless hours of grown-up and kid fun!
We ask that you please not disturb the other items in the shop - leave the tools, saws, lawnmowers and building materials to us.
Interaction with Guests
The Annex will be ready for you by 2:00pm on the day you arrive. Earlier check-in is possible, just contact us and we can probably make arrangements. At a minimum, you are welcome to drop your stuff here while we get your room ready. We ask that you depart by 12:00pm of your check-out day.
We mostly just leave you to yourself. If you’d like us to show you the space, grounds, and amenities when you arrive, we’re more than happy to do that (if we’re around). But please don’t feel pressure to approach us to check-in, Charlotte’s Annex is ready for you by 2pm on your scheduled day. Just enter and enjoy.
Our goal is to strike the perfect balance between leaving you to yourself while also supporting your stay in every way we can. We are absolutely available to help you out while you are here. If you need something, just ask us, we might have it! Knock on the front door, or text.
The Annex has ample parking; a boat or RV would easily fit. Please let us know beforehand if you are bringing a large vehicle so we can be sure to create adequate space.
Please leave the gate in whatever state you found it, if it was open, please leave it open. If closed, leave it closed.
We give the space a full cleaning just before you get here so it’s fresh and ready for you. As you saw, your rental includes a $20 cleaning fee. Unless special arrangements are made, we don’t typically provide daily maid-type service. Don't worry about pulling linens or anything, just do a quick tidy-up before you leave, and we'll take care of the rest. Even leave your dishes in the rubbermaid bin provided and we'll take care of it.
- You have your own private entrance to the Annex. You’ll initially enter through the sliding glass door (follow the signs) and you are welcome to come and go through that door or the door off the bathroom, which opens into our shop. The shop-to-bathroom door is the one with a locking doorknob (key hanging adjacent). The slider locks from the inside, but there is no key to open from the outside.
