About this listing. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of our very conveniently located garden apartment while you are visiting our beautiful and vibrant city. Guests tell us that they appreciate coming home to our quiet location after a busy day and finding a free parking space nearby.
I think you'll enjoy staying in our comfortable, tranquil, private apartment in Noe Valley. The light-filled living/dining area has large windows and sliding glass doors that open into the garden. The bedroom has a double bed (smaller than a queen bed) and the living/dining room has a sofa bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, cookware and dishes. The bathroom is very small (3' by 7') and has a shower only.
Noe Valley's main shopping street is a 10 min. walk down hill and a small shopping center with a post office, Safeway, Walgreens, and a few eateries is 5 minutes uphill. PARKING is EASY and FREE. 3 bus lines are within a 5 minute walk and the J Church street car is 8-10 minutes downhill, 12-15 minutes up.
If you arrive by plane, Supershuttle, Uber, or Lyft will drop you at our door for under $30 typically. Alternatively, you can take BART to Glen Park Station and take the #35 bus to the corner nearest our house and have a one minute walk to the house. If you're driving, we're 20 minutes from the airport.
Your hosts live upstairs via a separate entrance and are happy to help you navigate your way around. Judy is a yoga teacher and body movement therapist, available to minister to your aches and pains at a discounted rate. Ed is a mortgage broker and can help you get a loan after you fall in love with San Francisco!
You have a self-contained unit with a kitchen. You also can walk out the door into our garden.
Interaction with Guests
Although we're upstairs, we are available for most any need you have.
We live in a great part of San Francisco. The air is fresh, the people are friendly and we're close to great dining and neighborhood shopping. 24th Street in "downtown" Noe Valley is one of the most delightful neighborhoods in San Francisco. It's like being in a small town in the midst of a big city.
We are in a great location for walking, driving, and taking public transportation. Walking: We're a 10 min. walk downhill to 24th St., the trendy, shopping and dining street of Noe Valley; a 5 minute walk uphill to Safeway supermarket, Walgreens pharmacy, post office, and a few eateries
Some of our more ambitious guests walk to nearby neighborhoods including the Castro, the Mission, and Glen Park. We are on a steep hill, so be prepared, especially on the way back! Remember, you can always hop on the bus!
Public Transportation: Our house is close to several bus lines: the 35, 24, and 52 lines are all a short walk from our house. The 35 is particularly close, a leisurely one minute and ten second walk from our house to the bus stop. (Yes, we timed it!)
The 35 will take you to "downtown" Noe Valley and the Castro within minutes. At the Castro St. Station you can connect to many other lines that will easily take you downtown and beyond. And it will also take you to Glen Park and the Glen Park BART Station in a matter of minutes.
The 24 and 52 are both within 5 minutes of our house and will take you to many other neighborhoods as well as to other lines that will connect you to the entire city and to BART. One other popular option is to take the J-Church streetcar to downtown. It's a 10 minute walk downhill from our house to the 27th St. stop. This tram goes mainly above ground and offers interesting and lovely views of different neighborhoods and Dolores Park along the way.
We're happy to assist you with bus schedules and answer your questions as best we can. All of this information can be found online, too.
Driving: We're in a terrific location for those of you who are driving.
Parking on the street near our house is easy and free (unlike many parts of San Francisco). Our house is on a steep street, but most guests park in front of our house or within a few houses of ours. Occasionally a guest will park down the hill or on the nearest cross street as it is flatter, after first dropping their bags off.
Three important things to know about parking in San Francisco (we'll help you with all of them!):
1) Be careful not to block anybody's driveway.
2) Be sure to "curb" your wheels on hills like ours.
3) Pay close attention to the parking signs. Taxi: Taxi rides are easy to arrange and very affordable. Choose from traditional taxis to services like Lyft and Uber to get around town!
Other Things to Note
We live a steep hill. Most people have no problem with this. However, if you have limited mobility, this may be a challenge for you and we suggest choosing another place on easier terrain to navigate.
No smoking. No pets. No loud music.. Separate entrance- come and go as you please.+ More
