A raised wood-burning fireplace is the literal centerpiece of the Great Room with cathedral ceilings, skylights and large windows providing exceptional light and views of the surrounding woods. The open kitchen and dining area are on the back side of the chimney making everyone feel together on the first floor.
The first floor also features a full bath, master bedroom with sliders to the back deck, and playroom with sleeper couch. The playroom is stocked with activities and games for grade school kids and adults.
Off the main dining area is a light-filled and newly renovated sunroom that leads into a screen porch with dining table.
The highlight of the back yard is a large deck that runs the length of the house, including a dining table that seats 6 and a large gas grill.
There are two bedrooms on the second floor as well as a second full bath. One bedroom includes a Queen bed and the other 'kids' room has two single beds.
This past summer, we replaced all the windows with premium Anderson windows as well as the sunroom and screen porch roofs.
There's a premium all-wood swing set with an elevated, covered 'tree house' tucked along the tree-line on one edge of the backyard. There's also a fire pit area with Adirondack chairs in one corner of the yard, adjustable height full-size basketball hoop in the driveway and several gardens throughout the property.
The washer and dryer are at the base of the steps in the full-size and well-kept basement. There's also a second refrigerator in the basement if needed for extra storage.
Our home is off the beaten path, but provides quick access to great things to do right in Becket: A wonderful town beach on Center Pond, world-renown Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, an amazing restaurant called Dream Away Lodge, and the year-round Canterbury Farm offering hiking, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing and more. There's also a nice town library, arts center, baseball field, horse farm offering pony and trail rides and a hiking trail to the Historic Quarry right up the street. The Appalachian Trail runs through Becket with a few easy access points.
Beyond Becket, the property is centrally located within the Berkshires, and the answer to most 'distance' questions is 'about 20-30 minutes to everything.' For example, Tanglewood is 30-minutes, 'downtown' Stockbridge and Lenox are 20-25 minutes, Lee Premium Outlets shopping is 15-20 minutes, and skiing is 15-40 minutes pending which resort.+ More
