There is much to see and do. We are just one hour from Canada's Capital and all that Ottawa has to offer. Closer to home, Purdon Conservation Area, about a 6 minutes drive, boasted 16,000 blooms in 2015; the largest colony of Lady Slipper Orchids in Canada (and possibly North America). The last week in June and early July is the best time for viewing.
More detail on the Spa portion of our facility: To our knowledge, Circa 1894 Day Spa is the only facility providing the FAR-Infrared experience in the area and we have two. The first is an Ontario Medical Grade, SaunaRay, constructed right here in Ontario of basswood. The other is made of redwood, by SaunaTec, and includes a light therapy option. Both are located indoors.
Nestled in the lower level of the three decks, enjoy our outdoor authentic, Amish built, Finnish Sauna and an original wooden tub. We vary the temperature depending on the season and demand. On the middle deck you can lounge in our large chlorine-free hot tub. The upper deck features a third (also chlorine-free) tub, this one a Dream Maker, which we use as our cool/cold tub. With the tubs and saunas you can experience Thermo-therapy, which consists of hot/cold/relax/repeat/repeat. Each level has ample seating for relaxation or you can step inside and enjoy the quiet room (which doubles as a therapy room , where you can book a massage or a Reiki treatment) and fireplace with its beautiful oak mantel, which speaks of yesteryear.
We are also pleased to be offering various therapies and themed stays, by appointment only. One of these themes will be a package that will include the preparation and serving of all the 'meals' necessary for a three day warming cleanse.
Note that, to insure quiet relaxation, the Spa is Adults only. Smoking is not permitted on the premises.
Because they use superior, botanically based products, we have chosen to partner with Arbonne for our shampoo and body wash in the Day Spa. This is in line with our concept for the renovation, the build and the business; one of sustainability and ease to the planet. Donna and Cam, You have created a lovely retreat here! Thank you so much for accommodating our needs on the weekend of my son's marriage. You're the best! - Randy M, from Ottawa 25 July 2017
This is the best way to treat oneself when hubby and his best friends are on a 5-day canoe trip! I had a special time recharging, de-toxing, relaxing. My favourite moment was at the pine Finnish tub with the top not completely open, going under the dripping water and feeling like being under a waterfall. I'm already planning days to come back with friends and family. All the best. THANK YOU! Bel, from Ottawa area 21 June 2017

A cooler was at our disposal to keep a few items fresh. The renovated church space (where our tasty homemade breakfast was served) is very inspiring and made us want to move in. We enjoyed our quiet evening in the outdoor tubs and the overall sense of peace Circa 1894 and its remote location offers. A quaint and unique B+B experience! ”
