The Mile-End is the cultural and artistic hub of Montreal. In fact, it’s the neighborhood with the highest concentration of artists in Canada!
That means great bookstores, cafes and the some of the tastiest food in the city. For Montreal’s best bagel, visit Saint-Viateur right down the street or grab a full breakfast at B&M or Le Fabergé. For unbeatable sandwiches there’s Boulangerie Clark or the world famous Willensky’s Light Lunch, which hasn’t changed since it first opened in 1932.
Take in a show at the Theatre Outremont or the Rialto Theater. Then grab a beer at Dieu du Ciel, one of Canada’s best microbreweries, or a whisky and cigar at the Whisky Café.
The Mile End is home to some of the best restaurants and cafes in the city. And, thanks to its roots in the Jewish community, it contains the world-famous St. Viateur and Farmount bagel shops. Try Willensky's for a light lunch.
It’s easy to get around the city on public transit. It’s a 16-minute walk to the Laurier metro station where you can catch the orange line to the Old Port, downtown and beyond. Or walk 4 mins to Parc Ave and take the express bus to Place des Arts. From there you can catch the metro to downtown or walk into Chinatown and the Old Port.
If you’re driving: you can usually find free street parking in the area with a little patience. But there’s also a garage a 15-min walk away where you can park for around $20/day.
