The guesthouse sits on one remaining acre of an early 20th century eighty acre dairy farm. What remains is an open wooded landscape sustaining an array of wildlife. Early mornings you may encounter deer, rabbits and turkeys. The bird feeders outside your window will be a flurry of finches, wrens, cardinals, chickadees and hummingbirds. And the ever effervescent squirrels and chipmunks.
Located a half mile from Lake Michigan and a two mile comfortable bike ride or walk to historic downtown South Haven and the public beaches. There is a smaller lesser known beach one mile south of the house called Deerlick Creek Beach which is a nice stroll from the property. And from that beach you can walk two miles to the state park along the coast.
The guesthouse is nestled between the owners home, a 1907 farmhouse and the original well maintained barn and offers plenty of privacy. There is a large private yard behind and on the back side of the home. The guesthouse was completely renovated into a comfortable and spacious 2 bedroom, 1 bath, 1100 Sq ft home in 2016. The home has central air conditioning and heat.

Both bedrooms have plenty of closet and chest of drawer space for guests. Oscillating floor fans in each bedroom. The two bedrooms can adjoin with locking sliding track double doors.
The master bedroom is an addition to the original building and features an exterior door and patio space overlooking the organic vegetable garden. It is a lush and quiet area framed by a tranquil wooded landscape at the back of the property. A perfect space for an evening campfire with the provided firewood, a night of star gazing away from the city lights or a BBQ. There are lounge chairs and a table with seating for 6. More seating available if needed.
The livingroom is spacious and easily accommodates the very comfotable queen memory foam sleeper sofa when in use. One oversized and two upholstered chairs with ottomans. Two children's chairs for activities on the large coffee table. Plenty of room for board games or movie watching for all guests.
43" Smart TV with Amazon Video, Netflix, WIFI and 1000 channel cable. Board and card games, DVD player. Lots of board games and plenty of art supplies for kids. I have been in the hospitality, antique and design industry for 30 years. My business has had me on the road for many years and I have come to value a clean, comfortable and quiet place to stay during my own travels. I combine this experience with a creatively decorated interior offering a collection of unique antique and retro furnishings and decor that are fitting to a modern lifestyle with a hint to a past of a farming industrial community. Comfort is my number one objective.
Also, I am an organic gardener. Please help yourself to some salad fixings, veggies and herbs seasonally located in the garden just out the guesthouse back patio door.
South Haven is a lively destination resort town. A sizable Marina offering all of the water sports related activities can be found. We have a nice bike\scooter rental business as well if needed.. Nightly sunset cruises, two large public beaches, and plenty of restaurants and a bi-weekly abundant locally grown downtown farmers market that shouldn't be missed. Pick blueberries in July and August. Take a dune ride in Saugatuck. Check in with the tourist bureau for weekend festivals in the area. There is also an app called Lakelife that highlights local events. Visit the other produce farms, antique shops, galleries and small resort towns that all hug the coastline on the Blue Star Highway. Visit our state park located two miles south. There are beautiful wooded trials that take you to the bluffs above the shores of Lake Michigan. A lovely place for an afternoon picnic. Two sizable bike trails. The Kal-Haven hike and bike trailhead is located downtown and is a 30 mile trail to Kalamazoo which hugs the Black River and farmland and features covered bridges and picnic spots along the path. Van Buren Trail is a two minute bike ride from the house and runs approximately 5 miles from downtown to the Van Buren State Park.
For a larger city fix you will be 30 minutes to St Joesph and Holland, and 20 minutes to Saugatuck/Douglas. All offering lovely restaurants, galleries, shopping, coffee shops and beaches. Kalamazoo is 30 minutes east.
If you haven't experienced the Lake Michigan coastline I can assure you that you will leave with fond memories.
The main house was built before much consideration was given for those with limited physical abilities. There is access to the home without stairs but there is a small incline grassy hill that leads to the master bedroom patio door. Once in the house there is a one step up from the master bedroom and bath to the remaining rooms in the home. Please inquire and I will be happy to provide additional images of these areas to you for your consideration.
Thank you for considering this property and spending your vacation in the South Haven area.
Safe travels to wherever your destination takes you!
