The guesthouse sits on one remaining acre of what was an early 20th century 80 acre dairy farm. Beautiful open space with wooded landscape and an array of wildlife. Located a half mile from Lake Michigan and a two mile comfortable bike ride or walk to historic downtown South Haven and the public beaches. There is a smaller lesser known beach one mile south of the house called Deerlick Creek Beach. Unfortunately the winter storms has taken away a good deal of sand and it's somewhat rocky but still a nice stroll from the property. And from that beach you can walk to the state park along the coast.
The guesthouse is nestled between the owners home, a 1907 farmhouse and the barn. Completely renovated in to a comfortable and spacious 2 bedroom, 1 bath, 1100 Sq ft home in 2016. The home has central air conditioning and heat.
Two bedrooms both featuring queen pillow top mattresses with 2'"memory foam options. Four fresh pillows per bed of medium and firm comfort level. Quality cotton linens and comforters. Both bedrooms have plenty of closet and chest of drawer space for guests.
The master bedroom is an addition to the original building and features an exterior door and patio space overlooking the organic vegetable garden. It is a lush and quiet area framed by a tranquil wooded landscape at the back of the property. A perfect space for an evening campfire with the provided firewood, a night of star gazing away from the city lights or a BBQ. There are lounge chairs and a table with seating for 6.
The livingroom is spacious and easily accommodates the very comfotable queen memory foam sleeper sofa when in use. One oversized and two upholstered chairs with ottomans. Plenty of room for board games or movie watching for all guests.
43" Smart TV with Amazon Video, Netflix, WIFI and 1000 channel cable. Board and card games, DVD player. Games for kids and adults.
Heated tile floors and extra large walk in shower compliment the bathroom addition. Plenty of towels and a change of bed linens are always stocked. Stack washer/dryer, detergent/bleach/dryer sheets , iron/ ironing board and hand held clothes Steamer. Shampoo/ conditioner and body lotion/hairdryer.
Kitchen is fully stocked. Dishwasher, disposal, coffee grinder, drip and keurig coffee maker, French press. Toaster, microwave, gas stove, crock pot, baking dishes, juicer, food processor and ninja blender. Composting is always welcome adjacent to the garden.
Charcoal and gas BBQ grills, coolers, 3 bicycles, beach towels and blanket, and beach umbrella are available for your use. Also 2 beach chairs and 4 portable folding chairs. A few beach toys for the kids.
One of my guests left some good ideas in a recent review regarding a space for a pack and play in the master bedroom walk in closet which is very spacious. If you are traveling with an infant or toddler please let me know and I can easily make arrangements in that area to accommodate you.
I have been in the hospitality, antique and design industry for 30 years. My business has had me on the road for many years and I have come to value a clean, comfortable and quiet place to stay during my own travels. I combine this experience with a creatively decorated interior offering a collection of unique antique and retro furnishings and decor. Comfort is my number one objective.
Also, I am an organic gardener. Please help yourself to some salad fixings and herbs seasonally located in the garden located just out the guesthouse back patio door.
South Haven is a lively resort town. A sizable Marina offering all of the water sports related rentals can be found. We have a nice bike\scooter rental business as well. Nightly sunset cruises, two large public beaches, and plenty of restaurants and a bi-weekly abundant locally grown downtown farmers market that shouldn't be missed. Pick blueberries in July. Take a dune ride in Saugatuck. Check in with the tourist bureau for weekend festivals in the area. There is also an app called Lakelife that highlights local events. Visit the other produce farms, antique shops, galleries and small resort towns that all hug the coastline on the Blue Star Highway. Visit our state park located two miles south. There are beautiful wooded trials that take you to the bluffs above the shores of Lake Michigan. A lovely place for an afternoon picnic. Two sizable bike trails. The Kal-Haven trailhead is located downtown and is a 30 mile trail to Kalamazoo which hugs the Black River and features covered bridges and picnic spots along the path.
For a larger city fix you will be 30 minutes to St Joesph and Holland, and 20 minutes to Saugatuck/Douglas. All offering lovely restaurants, galleries, shopping, coffee shops and beaches. Kalamazoo is 30 minutes east.+ More
