Walk to restaurants/bars/grocery. Clean, inviting and warm place to settle in. Down bedding. Cable/HBO/On Demand & wireless internet included. Bikes available.
This light filled basement studio is designed to feel like a 1 bedroom with lots of room to spread out. The studio is located in the basement of a charming 1902 Portland home. My fiance and I live in the main part of the house and there is very cute housewares/clothing retail store in the front of the building.
There are 2 very large windows in the studio with views of greenery. Lots of art from local Portland artists adorn the walls. The living room has a fold out sofa perfect for 1 adult or 2 children. The flat screen television with full cable/HBO and On Demand is viewable from the living and dining areas as well as from the comfort of your plushy bed.
If you like to cook, the kitchen is fully stocked so you can take advantage of all the local produce and goods Portland has to offer and save $$ making your own meals. There is an inviting dining room area large enought to accommodate guests. Much care and time has been taken to create a peaceful, modern yet comfy space with touches of classic Portland vintage style.
It is important to note the ceiling height in the studio is traditional for vintage Portland homes which means it's lower than standard ceiling height.
The Burnside Studio has a private entrance located along the home owners driveway. The entrance is a split landing with a locked door going into the homeowners area 4 steps up (this door will be unused by the homeowners during your stay) and your private studio is down 7 steps. Once downstairs you enter a large foyer before entering the studio through a pretty glass door. The bathroom is also located off the foyer. The retail shop owners (2 nice gals) do have access to the loo for quick potty breaks but they do not have access to the main area of the apartment. I keep the bathroom very pretty and clean. It is considered YOUR bathroom. The foyer also has lots of room to hang your coats, stash your keys, take off your shoes plus there is extra storage space for whatever else you don't want inside the living area and a luggage closet.
Interaction with Guests
My cheerful fiance and myself live in the main area of the house and are available for any advice, tips or information needed to help make your stay in Portland the best it can be. We also have many bikes available for your use.
The location of the Burnside Studio is perfect for travelers. We are located only 10-15 min drive from the airport, no freeway necessary. Everything from entertainment, tantalizing restaurants (gourmet sushi, mexican, american, bistro), hip dive bars, grocery shopping (Whole Foods is 1 block away) and public transporation are literally steps away, yet the studio is peaceful and perfectly positioned away from the hustle and bustle. The Laurelhurst Theater (URL HIDDEN) is just 2 blocks away and plays new and nostolgic movies for only $4 plus you can get local beer, wine, salads and pizza! Doesn't get better than that. Vintage stores galore just blocks away.
If you have your own car there is plenty of off street parking plus the use of the private driveway is available to load and unload your belongings. We do ask you to keep your parking limited in front of the retail store out front to respect their customer's limited parking space. Several bus lines are within 1-3 blocks. The Hollywood or Lloyd Center Max Station (light rail) are both about a 5 min car ride or 25 min walk away. The train station is 7 min (35 blocks) straight across the river, very easy access. Once you have arrived to the Burnside Studio everything you need is within walking distance!
Other Things to Note
We welcome well behaved house trained dogs of any breed for an extra fee. There are 2 dog parks located within 6-10 blocks. We also have 2 dogs of our own in the main area of the house but keep them on the 3rd floor during guest stays.
This is a daylight basement studio in an old charming house so some light noise can sometimes be heard from the main floor but we strive to keep the environment very peaceful as I myself am very picky about noise especially while on vacation. We also provide fans for those of you that need the extra white noise while sleeping (like I do :-) I've had the opportunity to travel much myself and understand the needs of a peaceful home away from home.
Wether you are in Portland to get comfy, stay in and binge on your favorite televeision shows. Sightsee. Party it up at our many bars or gorge at our vast selection of amazing restaurants we just ask that our guests be respectful with noise when coming and going especially during quiet hours (10pm-8am). If you bring along your fuzzy friends be sure to take them for walks and not leave unattended for unreasonable amounts of time.+ More
