Arbor Studio at Chakra Garden is a compact, tidy single building just right for one person; serviceable, but perhaps too intimate for two.* It's nestled under a grandmother grapevine and looks out into our large, beautiful healing garden.
Expect friendly atmosphere, intelligent use of space, interior cleanliness, bamboo floors, interesting lighting, filtered drinking water, a moderately well-equipped kitchenette (toaster oven, micro, electric kettle & frying pan, 4 each dishes, cups, etc.).
You'll enjoy your food perched on a stool at the kitchenette counter while gazing past the ancient grapevine arbor out into our Healing Garden. There's also a old-fashioned barrel reading chair with a garden view.
Arbor Studio at Chakra Garden sports a comfy sofabed, top-quality futon, from Ikea that easily is a couch or a bed. The 'bed' is made more comfortable with a sheepskin covered with a thick cotton mattress pad and 400 count white cotton sheets.
Arbor Studio feels insulated from the outside world but offers very little interior privacy for 2 people. The shower is transparent and opens into the main room; the toilet has a curtain rather than a door. The tiny, well insulated space is heated with a portable radiator-type device, ceiling fan for air circulation, and a new window air conditioner. In the high heat of summer 2015, our guests report it works well.
Entry to Arbor Studio is via the Garden Gate into the back yard and along uneven paths covered in bark chip. We have solar lights at strategic places, but we encourage you to bring a flashlight.
Parking is in our 3-car driveway, space or safely at curbside.
Chakra Garden of Ashland is fully licensed by City of Ashland to offer traveler lodging. We can successfully accommodate groups up to 10 people in a variety of housing options. Please see our other VRBO listings for accommodation options: Lhasa House (#457370); Temple House (#508664). Please contact Candace for more information about group stays.
Arbor Studio at Chakra Garden is located 4 blocks north of Downtown Plaza, the heart of Ashland. From this hub, everything you need for entertainment, dining, and shopping is around you.
Arbor Studio is almost across the street from a south-bound Ashland/Medford bus stop and a block north of Ashland’s Youth Hostel.
Ashland’s Natural Food Coop is a beautiful 5-block neighborhood stroll through the historic Skidmore Academy District. Food options are nearby: the Breadboard Restaurant for breakfast/lunch and Big Al’s Diner for lunch/diner are 2 & 1 block north, and we’ve a Minute Market 1 block south.
Arbor Studio at Chakra Garden is also just 2-blocks up the street from the Kagyu Sukha Choling Center for the Practice of Tibetan Buddhism, 3-blocks from Ashland Institute of Massage Therapy (AIM), and 4-blocks from the United Bicycle Institute.
*There's a $10/night fee for that extra person. We suggest 2-people might be more comfortable, for not much difference in cost, in either of our other cottages: Lhasa House or Temple House.+ More
