The neighborhood is quiet with little traffic in and out. It is centrally located minutes from all of San Diego's major attractions including Sea World, The Zoo, Balboa Park, Belmont Park, Old Town, La Jolla, and Mission Bay is just down the hill. There are 3 golf courses within a 5 mile radius.
Many aquatic activities such as sailing, kayaking and fishing charters can be found along the bayfront. Nearby La Jolla cove is famous for snorkeling and is an aquatic preserve teaming with colorful reef fish. Pacific beach is ten minutes by car and has a great boardwalk with a cool roller coaster and wide sandy beach ideal for swimming and surfing. Just west of Balboa Park you will find the Old Downtown Gaslamp District, famous for it's nightlife and amazing restaurant row. The Midway museum and the Star of India are also nearby.
