Estes Valley 2017 Vacation Home Registration #3236
5 Star 2 BR Fully restored classic cabin with great walkable location.
Clever appointments throughout this historic cabin (circa 1928) make this a first class, cozy and comfortable place to return, whether you've been trekking in Rocky Mountain National Park, shopping downtown Estes Park, or sitting by a river with a good book. Exploration takes its inspiration from the grizzled individuals who came to mine gold in the Colorado hills and pan for nuggets by sluicing the rivers.
We carefully took this cabin all the way down to the studs, uncovering its secrets and stories long hidden. Then we restored and reconstructed it, protecting the historic charm but adding modern comforts. Walls and ceilings throughout are wrapped in shiplap and fir tongue & groove and make Exploration feel organic, warm and clean.
You open the door to find a cozy living room furnished with a sleeper sofa and outfitted with a 50" wall mounted Samsung UHD TV with soundbar. A parlor gas stove warms this room and the entire cabin.
The kitchen is brand new, yet primitive. Wood countertops, open shelving and a pretty apron sink outfit our miner's cabin. The kitchen is fully equipped and has dishes and utensils enough to serve 6. The coffee bar is just off the kitchen where you can pour your coffee, tea or hot chocolate.
The "map room" is a unique space we have preserved just for you. Study your topo maps, plan your hikes & fishing trips or just curl up in our reading nook in this cozy retreat.
Sliding pocket doors lead from the map room into the master bedroom. Queen sized bed is headed by an antique wall hanging rescued from an old New Orleans library. Plenty of space to store your gear, this is a good place to sit down and pull off your boots. The back "bunk room" has twin bunk beds and more gear storage.
One bathroom cleverly serves all. Super efficiently planned with double wall heaters make sure you are comfortable on chilly mountain mornings.
All This Mountain Life cabins are conveniently located on E Riverside Drive, an historic Estes Park neighborhood that is just a short 3 minute walk from the main street downtown, Elkhorn Avenue. Just before you reach Elkhorn, you will connect with the convergence of Fall River and the Big Thompson at Confluence Park. From there you can follow the riverwalk east through downtown shops and restaurants, all the way to Performance Park which features free concerts throughout the busy season. If you follow the riverwalk east, you'll pass popular galleries, eateries, shops and coffee houses, and then out of downtown toward the 9 hole golf course, past Lake Estes and to the Lake Estes Marina where you can rent kayaks, canoes, paddle boats and pedal cars. FYI, if you want a fabulous brisk walk, its about 5 miles from Exploration to the marina and back. We love it!
