Welcome to our home away from home. Situated 30 minutes West of Calgary in the quaint town of Bragg Creek. Quiet and private but 5 minutes to groceries, gas, shops, galleries, artisans and restaurants. We are a 5-minute drive from hiking, snowshowing, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, fishing and much more in the wild and rugged Kananaskis Country. Please ask and we would LOVE to direct you to beautiful local sites such as Elbow Falls and Kananaskis Village. Less than two hours to Drumheller (Royal Tyrell Museum), less than one hour to Banff and Canmore and downtown Calgary.
Our cabin features three indoor bedrooms (one King, one Queen, two twins), plus a separate studio bedroom outside (Queen). There is also a main-floor den that can serve as a bedroom (my personal favourite place to sleep!). There are two bathrooms, one main-floor with a roomy walk-in shower, one upstairs with a huge soaker jetted tub under a skylight!
The original log cabin serves as the living room with huge floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the wrap-around deck, meadows, and foothills. Dusk is a great time to spot moose and deer in the yard and meadow. You may also have hummingbirds visit while you have breakfast on the deck or hear the owls and coyotes as you head to bed. There is a playroom area stocked with toys as well as an under-the-stairs hideaway for the little ones. The den features a sitting area, bookshelf and another great view of the side yard. The loveseat in this room tranforms into a very comfortable single bed. The kitchen is huge with great work-space and a large table wonderful for family gatherings, seating up to 10 comfortably and another 3-4 at the counter.
Outside you will find a bbq, patio table and chairs, and a sturdy playset for the kids. There are a few kids bikes, balls, outdoor games and hockey gear in the garage you're welcome to make use of as well. The deck wraps around three sides of the house so there is always somewhere to sit and relax or be part of the action.
The town of Bragg Creek is a hidden gem! We have two great playgrounds minutes away, as well as an outdoor ice rink (basketbal/rollerblade hockey in the summer), tennis and golf also minutes away. The town features art galleries, artisan shops, great restaurants, a wonderful book store, liquor store and really anything you'll need. You can also head into nearby Calgary for the Calgary Zoo, telus Spark Science Centre, Glenbow Museum, Princess Island Park and so many more events and attractions. Let us know what you're into and we'll point you in the right direction!
But the real draw of our area is the outdoors. We have world-class mountain biking and fishing, snow-shoeing, hiking, cross-country and down-hill skiing, white water rafting, hunting. We LOVE our cabin and our part of Alberta and we would LOVE to introduce you to all the amazing things you can see and do here.
Personal training and/or fitness equipment, bikes, and snowshoes available on request.
