We host female travelers who are looking for a reflective, meditative and quiet location to rest while touring Asheville and the surrounding area. We are about a 20 min drive from downtown Asheville or Black Mountain, NC and 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are many hiking/biking trails around Warren Wilson College just minutes away. Set on quiet beautiful land in Riceville Valley, surrounded by mountains, our house is spacious, open and friendly.
This lovely private, self-contained corner bedroom and bath face the tranquil grounds behind our house. With soothing evergreen walls, your room includes a comfortable queen bed, chest of drawers, star lamp and a quaint writer's desk. The full bathroom with a step-in shower is directly off the bedroom area. Outside the windows are the lovely stone walking meditation labyrinth; mature chestnut, sycamore, dogwoods, cherry and pine trees, a swimming pond and several perennial meditative gardens. While we offer a simple breakfast, guests are welcome to use our ample kitchen to cook additional meals for themselves. For this room, guests will have their own private entrance to the house.
Guests have access to the shared land, the pond, the gardens and creek. Our house is on land that we share with our close neighbors with whom we have good relations. Consequently, we ask guests to be respectful as they enjoy this communal special place.
While we are close to downtown Asheville, we are in a valley, surrounded by mountains, so your drive here will include a few gently curvy roads. Also, because most cell phones do not get service here, we have a house landline wifi with a strong connection. The house does not have a television, so plan accordingly. :-) We live simply and quietly here, love to read, write, do art, garden and be in nature! It really is a great place for adults, not so much children beyond infancy.
The neighborhood is quiet and family oriented. There are nearby restaurants and grocery stores, if you prefer to cook. Downtown Asheville offers a host of nighttime entertainment, restaurants, tourist attractions, public parks etc. The Folk Art Center, just 10 minutes away, has a ranger station for guidance on traveling The Blue Ridge Parkway. Maps and brochures are available in your room. I'm happy to offer recommendations, provide maps and brochures of local attractions and help orient you to our home. We are a 10 minute drive from a bus stop at Warren Wilson College.
Small pets are welcome with prior approval. No-smoking. Because this is a shared space in our home, we only accommodate female guests. Thank you.+ More
