FOOLS RUSH INN About 1 hour from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) this Lake Eugenia waterfront cottage is a marvelous choice for a family-oriented vacation. Lake Eugenia is at the entrance to the Beaver Valley in southern Ontario's recreational heartland. The cottage is located on a quiet dead-end cottage road, nestled in the trees along the shoreline of Lake Eugenia with swimming, boating, and fishing; or you can enjoy hiking, golfing, cycling, antiquing, visiting restaurants, artist and artisan studios/galleries; or just simply relaxing. When you enter the cottage you will be welcomed by a bright open living, dining and kitchen area with three walls of large picture windows that look out onto the deck and offer spectacular waterfront views. The living room is spacious with a large comfy L-shaped sofa, two wicker chairs, a 42” HD cable TV, and fireplace. There are 3 TVs (one 42” and two 24”), a radio, CD and DVD players at the cottage. The dining table can accommodate eight people and there are three kitchen island stools for additional seating. The kitchen has a fridge, stove, dishwasher, and toaster, tea pot and coffee maker. There are 3 bedrooms and a one bathroom in the cottage. Two bedrooms have queen beds and the third bedroom has a double bed. The bathroom is a 3 piece with shower, toilet, and sink. For your convenience there is also a washer and dryer available on the lower level of the cottage to take care of your laundry needs during your stay. In addition to the three bedrooms in the cottage there is a fourth bedroom on the upper level of the boathouse with a queen and two single beds. The upper level of the boathouse also features a patio door leading to a private deck overlooking the lake. Outside the cottage there is a 400 square foot elevated deck that’s perfect for taking advantage of the morning sunrise, beautiful lake views, socializing, and relaxing with your book and/or favourite summer beverage. With 8 Muskoka chairs and 8 deck chairs there is plenty of outdoor seating. There is also a propane BBQ for grilling your vacation feasts, a hammock for taking it easy in the shade, and a fire pit for evening campfires, marshmallow roasting and sharing stories. There is a sandbox for the younger children and one adult bike and one child’s bike for your use during your stay. It’s just a short walk down the stairs to the lakeside deck and dock where you can catch some sun, relax and take in the view. If you prefer, go for a swim or try your hand at fishing from the dock. The lake bottom is sandy with some rocks and stones. The water depth at the shoreline is about 1-2 feet and at the end of the dock it is about 5 feet deep. Do not dive off the dock and remember that younger children always need to be supervised near water. The cottage comes with the use of a canoe and kayak with paddles to explore the lake. Renters should bring their own lifejackets. Many of your basic day-to-day shopping needs are available in Eugenia at the Top of the Rock grocery/LCBO store, Eugenia Emporium, or the Jable Food Basket. You will find plenty to see and do. For the foodies be sure to check out the Flying Chestnut (Eugenia), the Flying Spatula (Flesherton), Stevens Restaurant (Markdale) and the many Collingwood and Thornbury eateries. Take your camera and explore the beauty of Eugenia Falls and Hogg’s Falls. Visit one of the area famers markets - they are a great place to buy local. Stop in at a local winery or cidery. Stroll the streets of the heritage towns and villages in the area and explore unique gift, antique shops, and artist and artisan galleries. Hike the Bruce Trail for some of the finest hiking in Ontario. Take in a live performance at Meaford Hall or golf at any of the many area golf courses. If you are into adventure, visit Scenic Caves Nature Adventures and try the zip line cable or cross the suspension bridge.
