Our Neck of the Woods is a fully furnished air conditioned one bedroom apartment below the main level of the couple/owners’ house. Our space is for those guests that are laid back enough to not mind the noises of the country or folks upstairs. Every measure has been taken to provide for your peace and privacy. There is a separate guest entrance from the owners. We are located just outside the beautiful town of Black Mountain.- The spacious apartment has an open floor plan where all the living areas meld together. You enter a living room area with fold-out queen sofa bed, matching love seat and a lighted seating area for morning coffee or playing cards in the evening. The eat-in kitchen is equipped with microwave oven, toaster oven with broiler feature, coffee pot with filters and a full size four-burner stove (no oven). It seats 4 and includes dish service for up to six people. The refrigerator is full size with freezer. The bathroom has a shower (no tub) and a full size washer and dryer are enclosed in a separate room. The bedroom area features a queen bed (premium mattress and linens, foam overlay) and plenty of dresser storage for your stay. The living room is equipped with flat screened television with cable and a DVD player. Some family games, playing cards and a small selection of popular author books are there for your entertainment. A few kitchen, laundry and bath extras include: laundry soap and dryer sheets, toilet paper for 2-3 days, small bar of soap, small shampoo; paper towel roll, dish detergent and dish towels, dish cloths and 2 garbage bags for kitchen waste; salt and pepper, oil and oil spray, local gourmet coffee for 1-2 mornings, assorted teas, sugar and sugar substitutes, and powdered creamers. There is an iron and ironing board in the washer dryer room and a hair dryer is provided. All linens and plenty of bath towels provided for your stay. Out of doors, is a stone patio with table and umbrella and seats four. A Gas grill is provided as well as grill tools. Parking easily accommodates 2 cars in a separate drive from owner’s drive and entrance.. This is an ideal get-away for 1-2 couples or 1 family with up to 3 small children. Crib and highchair provided if needed, as well as a child gate. Electric plugs have child safety plugs. We do not have a land line telephone, so we depend on our cell phones. As of October 2016 we now have WIFI. Just note that cell service anywhere in the mountains will be spotty. Property Type: 900+sq feet, 1 Bedroom apartment with queen size pull out sofa. Meals: Guests provide their own meals Suitability: Minimum age for renters is 25 years of age. No more than 5 occupants – best use is for 1-2 couples or 1 family with up to 3 small children. ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING ON THE PREMISES OR IN THE APARTMENT. NO pets of any kind allowed on the premises or in the apartment. We’re sorry, but we do not have the ability to accommodate a wheelchair. Winter Season: Ski and winter sports located in several directions – about 45 minutes plus. Pools and Workout: Black Mountain public pool open from Memorial Day to Labor Day – small daily fee. Private pool and gym – Cheshire Fitness Club also with daily fee to utilize services. Check in: is after 3 pm Check out: is by 11 am Rental Fees: $95.00 per weeknight (Sunday through Thursday), $125 per weekend night (Friday and Saturday), $680 per week and $2050 per month (all utilities included as well as W/D). Minimum of 4 night stay from May through October. 100% refund if cancelled at least 30 days before arrival date. There is a small cleaning fee, however taxes are included in the nightly rates . In order to keep our cleaning fee low, we instill a “leave it as you found it “ policy. Please treat our apartment as if it were your own. If you make a mess, please clean it up (cleaning supplies provided). Security deposit is $250.00 and returnable based on appropriate usage of apartment with no damages. Responsibility: This rental is privately owned and the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illnesses that occur while on the premises or its facilities. The homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guests. We assign key pad access codes to keys. We can also meet you at check-in with the keys if preferred. Please lock up each and every time you leave the apartment. Please help us conserve energy by turning off lights if they are not being used. Turn off outside lights during the day please. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from the use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premises. Safety Features: Smoke and CO2 alarms, First Aid Kit with basic first aid supplies, and Fire Extinguisher. Garbage: Two garbage bags are provided. If you use the first one, please place it in the laundry room in garbage can provided. Please do not put loose garbage outside due to possible attraction of bears and other wild animals. Please clean the grill when you are finished enjoying it, as the food smells also attract bears and wild animals. NO FIREARMS OR FIREWORKS ALLOWED at the property. Have fun while you are here! Go hiking, biking, sightseeing and visit our wonderful variety of restaurants, waterfalls, shops, local artists and farmer’s markets. A spacious, quiet mountain apartment

Peaceful retreat, returning home rested and refreshed!


Lovely comfortable country setting, but just a few minutes of easy driving to Black Mountain and Montreat. About an hour to DuPont State Forest, do not miss family friendly hike to Triple Falls with trailhead next to their staffed Visitor Center if you have questions etc. Hope to return sometime soon!

Great accommodations, quiet and peaceful location.


What a lovely place and location to spend a long weekend in the Black Mountain area. The accommodations had all that we needed, and the fact that the view was lovely was an added bonus. We are looking forward to coming back again when we are in the area!
