Beautifully furnished two-story retreat house in the Garden of Ideas, an 8 acre oasis in Fairfield County. Aldrich Museum, Ridgefield Playhouse, Weir Farm National Park, a charming Main Street--these wonderful attractions and more are in town. Just one hour north of NYC. PLEASE NOTE: MINIMUM STAY IS 30 DAYS.
The retreat house is approximately 1000 square feet with an open floor plan. It is bright and airy with window views of the lovely expansive grounds.
First floor is living space, kitchen and half bath. There is a fireplace forwarmth & ambiance. Kitchen is brand new and well-appointed. There is a library of horticultural/gardening books and a selection of board games. There is no tv, but there is wireless. Linens are provided. Kitchen is equipped. Guests should bring foodstuffs other than coffee/tea/sweeteners/creamer, salt&pepper, olive oil, vinegar.
Second floor is large bedroom (queen bed) with full bath. The bedroom is spacious enough to accommodate setup of our queen size inflatable air mattress or pack and play for additional guests.
The Garden of ideas is a ornamental stroll garden and farm. You can relax in the gardens, utilize our plant library to learn about vegetables or ornamental plants, birdwatch (wood ducks, great blue herons, kingfishers, yellow warblers, baltimore orioles and more). Your kids can play in the sandbox while you chat with the locals. On lovely weather days -- especially on weekends--there may be other unobtrusive visitors to the grounds; this is not a destination with total seclusion.
Cook for yourself using some of our local produce (available seasonally) or dine at one of many great local restaurants.
A car is useful to travel three miles to village. If you don't plan to leave the property, it's possible to get here by train/taxi (ask us how).
