Guest access: The studio features a private entrance, sunny private patio terrace and even has its own bike shed! We will send you self-check-in instructions upon a confirmed booking with a code to the lockbox at the entrance and codes for the studio door; so you can arrive and depart whenever is convenient for you. Or, if you let us know in advance, we would love to welcome you onto our property, give you a tour when you arrive and help you get settled in.
Shops, restaurants and the beach are close and you can easily get around by walking, BUT it can get hot and sunny! Most locals choose to ride their bikes and you are very invited to use our bicycles (2 bikes, locks included – if required). Venice Beach is graced with its very own paved bike path—the Marvin Braude Bike Trail, aka The Strand. With a northern tip touching Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades and a southern bottom brushing Torrance County Beach, the 22-mile stretch provides an easy cruise for bicyclists hoping to experience many of L.A.'s beloved beach towns, including Santa Monica, Venice, Marina del Rey, Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo Beach. Most visitors arrive with a big itinerary and end up spending much more time in Venice than originally planned, due to its beautiful beach, great restaurants and cafes as well as fab shopping it really has a lot to offer. It’s a great place just to hang out and people watch. Venice is also great for walking, biking, jogging and roller blading. You must fit in a visit to the Venice Canals, the Venice Walkways and of course the Venice Boardwalk. If you have questions or would like some suggestions for sightseeing, please ask us to help you plan your stay.
Interaction with guests: We live in the house in the front of the property separated from the garden studio by our garden. Your studio is in a separate building in the back and has its own entrance – it is very private!
We understand the importance of your and our privacy and are available to help with anything you need when asked; otherwise we will leave you alone.
The neighborhood: We offer the perfect location as both beach and fab shopping & restaurants/bars and cafes are within easy walking or cycling distance. Yet the studio is located west of Lincoln Blvd on a quiet and safe residential street with lots of free parking available. We are located on the Santa Monica side of Venice. Abbot Kinney Blvd., trendy Rose Ave. and Santa Monica's sophisticated Main Street are within easy reach both on foot and by bike. Some of the hippest internet companies have located their offices just a few blocks away. When we moved to California four years ago, we took a good look at the west side of Los Angeles and fell in love with Venice. Having lived and travelled a fair bit in our lives we enjoy sharing our property with people from around the world. Venice has gone and is ongoing through huge changes and gentrification, but still manages to keep its unique and funky vibe. Our neighborhood has everything to offer: beautiful beaches and surf spots, parks and playgrounds, amazing food/coffee/wine, like minded residents, stunning architecture, an interesting art scene, unique shopping, and great outdoor activities. Venice is also centrally located between Santa Monica and Marina del Rey, as well as only 15min (depending on traffic) drive away from LAX - the international airport. There are a number of freeways that will take you to Hollywood, Downtown, Disneyland and beyond.
Some of our favourite places nearby are Gjusta (amazing bread, food & coffee), Oscars Cerveteca (brunch, lunch or dinner), Cafe Gratitude (delicious vegan cuisine), Wurstkueche (Belgium Beer and food), TOMS (great coffee and pastries as well as fashion and shoes) and more. We will give you a full list of recommended places upon arrival.
Getting around: Venice beach, Abbot Kinney Blvd, Rose St and Main St are in walking distance. Most other sights in Venice, Marina de Rey and Santa Monica are a short bike ride away. If you don't cycle / walk, we recommend using Ueber or Lyft as both services are super affordable in LA. Or there is good public transport available; the Big Blue bus has a bus stop less than 1min walk away and routes to Santa Monica (with connecting train services to Downtown), Marina del Rey, Pacific Palisades, LAX airport and more.
If you like to explore the city of Los Angeles and surrounding areas it makes sense to have your own transportation. Street parking is free in our residential street and we are lucky its readily available. Mondays and Tuesday 8 – 10am is street cleaning, so it is vital to for you to read the street signs when parking and make sure you park your car on the right side of the street to avoid a parking ticket. We will give you further detailed information in regards to parking upon booking. Regular taxis, Lyft drivers, Uber, and town cars are plentiful and you’re about 15 minutes from LAX via cab/Lyft/Uber. LAX airport is also serviced by the Big Blue Bus and the Super Shuttle.
Other things to note: Any damage done to the studio or the premises through unusual use or loss of items belonging to the unit will be charged to Guest’s credit card.
