The Gonzales Bay Beach House is a Character home built prior to 1900. It has been completely restored and now has 3 large suites; the main suite is now available for short and long term rental. For the months of August and September weekly rate is $1500; monthly rate $4000. Discount for long term stay. Each suite is completely self contained with a private entrance and garden. Recent renovations insure little sound transmission between floors.
The house is located across the street from Gonzales beach on the main tourist route but hidden up a long driveway so it is completely quiet and private.
The main suite has 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms on 2 floors; a large southwest facing deck with views of the Olympics, Juan de Fuca Strait and Sooke Hills.
Amenities include high ceilings, wood floors, in floor heating in the bathroom, vacuum system, laundry, wood burning fireplace and furnished with a mix of antique and contemporary decor.
Here is your chance to live in one of the most sought after neighbourhoods in Victoria. Located close to public and private schools, parks and shopping; all this within walking distance.
Dogs and kids are welcome, but no cats please.
Gonzales Beach is a short walk down the driveway; just walk across the street to the beach entrance. Gonzales Beach is a popular destination in the summer; a beautiful sandy beach and calm waters make kayaking and boarding a fun experience but it can be very private in the winter.
Gonzales Bay is located along the waterfront between Victoria city centre and Oak Bay. It is a popular walking, cycling and driving route for tourists. There are many walking trails into hidden parks and open spaces for those who like to explore the ocean front. We are located in a micro climate that seems to get more sunshine. Often there are clouds in the surrounding mountains and hills, but sunny above our heads. People like to be outside here, so you will often meet the neighbours walking their dogs and marvel at the cyclists out training.
Oak Bay Village is a 20 minute walk to the east and Cook Street Village is a 20 minute walk to the west. Nearby are shops and grocery stores for your convenience.
Five years ago I bought an older(1981) RV after retiring and rented out the main suite. I took many trips on Vancouver Island and Washington state. Last year I bought a newer RV and now feel confident in travelling longer distances. I decided to build a new apartment downstairs for when I am in town.
The Gonzales neighbourhood has been my home for over 30 years; I've seen many changes over that time. From a beach cottage community, Gonzales Bay has been transformed to an area of multi million dollar waterfront homes.
The community is very family friendly; with public and private schools within walking distance from the Beach House. A shopping centre with everything you need is close by; both Oak Bay Village and Cook street Village are within walking distance. Gonzales Beach is quiet in winter, but the beach of choice for many in the summer, a great place for children to play and dogs to run free.+ More
