Stay in comfort while enjoying the serenity of the mountains and the sea that surrounds us. Our Chalet is custom built for your enjoyment. Practically every room has a private library for our guests to enjoy! The unique angles, custom trims, and attention to detail are what sets our haven apart from the rest! Take some time to enjoy the outdoor pool and hot tub or linger on our decks. Star gaze at night or enjoy the sea and mountain views during the day!
Because Pleasant Bay tips the Cape Breton Highland's National Park and is 1/2 way around the Cabot Trail, it is a perfect place to enjoy all that nature has to offer! Use Highland Breeze / Gulf Breeze / Harbour Breeze as one of your bases while you explore the highlands and surrounding communities. Hike the trails, whale watch, look for moose, enjoy the eagle's soar and walk on the sunset beach - all while you are here!
To encourage timely check ins I am offering a complimentary dessert & tea/coffee between 4pm & 6pm daily. At 6pm reserved guests and their party will have their name(s) entered in a draw for complimentary passes to the local Whale Interpretive Centre. It is a special time for all our guests as they will share their exciting adventures, or suggest places that they MUST visit when travelling about! We speak English and French but the language of good hospitality is universal.
Highland Breeze has three rooms available: The French Suite (perfect for 3 people) : Queen Suite with an ensuite sitting room which includes a twin murphy bed and an ensuite bathroom with shower; The Grande Anse (our honeymoon or special occassion suite for 2 people): Queen Jucuzzi Suite (2 person corner) and a full shower ensuite bathroom ; The MacKenzie (best for one or two): 1 Double with an ensuite bathroom and electric fireplace. Wireless High Speed Internet available, no charge
The MacKenzie opened in 2008 with excellent reviews! Our guests love the personal library and ambience of the little fireplace. The room is named after the MacKenzie Mountain which famously overlooks Pleasant Bay. It features a double bed (Serta Mattress), dresser, table & chairs, electric fire place and satellite television with DVD player. The MacKenzie also has a private bathroom with a large glass shower, toilet, pedestal sink. and cupboard closet.
The French (formerly the Sheiling) is on the main level! Our guests can expect the same level of attention to decor and detail as the rest of the house. The French Suite is a bit nostalgic... it's namesake is after the French Mountain (as is the MacKenzie with the MacKenzie Mountain). It is also paying homage to the historical connection that Cape Breton has with the French, Alain's Quebec heritage and my recent trip to France. We hope that you like the suite when its completed!
If an elegant romantic experience is what you desire, the Grand Anse will give you that and much more. Named after the Grand Anse Valley, this luxurious suite offers the opportunity to browse Grande Anse Library (filled with exceptional Canadiana), a cozy queen size bed, love seat & chair, and fleece robes. The private washroom is complete with toilet, shower and pedestal sink. However, the much sought after romantic whirlpool for two is tucked away in a corner of the bedroom.

Pleasant Bay - 1/2 point of the Cabot Trail. Our sea-side village remains a natural haven for exploring Cape Breton Island. We have been enticing visitors to the area since the early 1900's.
Take a walk around our harbour to watch the fisherman at work. Perhaps encounter a moose on the trail or a whale in the bay. Take in the clean salt air, or relax and watch the eagles soar along our rugged coastline.
We have everything you need: accommodations, restaurants, unique shopping and hiking. Start your experience at the Whale Interpretive Centre and then take a tour in the whale watching capital of Cape Breton.+ More
