Cushing's Island is a small privately owned island in Casco Bay with extensive carriage roads and walking paths through a picturesque landscape. In the mid 1880’s landscape designer Frederick Law Olmstead and architect John Calvin Stephens, were commissioned to create this summer colony. Trails along the rocky shore and access to the old forts are among the many gems on the island. With no cars, bikes, stores or restaurants, it is a quiet place with a common appreciation for its natural surroundings. Several beaches provide access to water sports including sea kayaking, swimming and stand-up paddle boarding. For those not inclined towards the cold Maine water, beach combing for sea glass and climbing along the rocky coast or visiting our stone gazebos are all ways to enjoy the island.+ More
