Turtle Junction, owned by my family for the last 15 years, is an idyllic Block Island home that holds great memories with room for many more! This house is in a perfect location, walkable to town and the ferry (less than a mile), yet in a secluded and private neighborhood off of High Street, just North of the school. The house sits on a nature-filled lot with a fantastic deck overlooking a beautiful and accessible pond.
The exterior of the house was just redone with new siding, roof, windows, skylights and doors, while the inside of our home boasts the rustic charm you’d expect from a home on Block Island. The home is 4 levels with the basement level containing a bedroom with a full size bed, a full bath and a laundry area. The main level hosts the kitchen which offers a small table, gas range, dishwasher, and a new fridge with an ice maker. The main dining area features a large farmhouse table that seats 8 and opens to the family room that has a flat screen TV with a DVD player and ample seating for 8 to 10 people. The third level includes another full bath and two bedrooms; one with a full size bed and the other with a twin bed plus a trundle bed. The biggest bedroom is on the 4th floor loft. It contains a queen size bed, plus a gorgeous view of the pond off the back of the house. There’s a large deck off of the main level that contains a picnic table that seats 10, along with a few Adirondack and lounge chairs, plus a Weber gas grill.
There are beach chairs, toys, coolers, and lawn games available for use. There are also books to borrow, board games, cards and puzzles if you get tired of spending your days in the sun. We have several kayaks for use in the back yard pond and bring your fishing pole! You’re sure to catch some sunnies, small bass, and of course, turtles.
There are a bunch of great benefits to this perfect location. The ferry, several restaurants, bike rentals, hotels, bars, shopping, and even a petting zoo, are less than a mile away. The Block Island school, with a kids playground and an outdoor basketball court, is .25 miles away. The historic Spring House and Atlantic hotels, offer manicured lawns with Adirondack chairs for a place to chill out, sip a cocktail and watch the boats go by each about a half mile from the house. The best beaches are just past town, so about 1.5 miles to the closest sand. Best of all there is a sidewalk for entire walk to town.+ More
