Stoney Lake is one of the most picturesque and popular lakes in the Kawartha region and this good-value cottage is located on Julia's Creek, a small bay; a short paddle to the open lake. Perfectly placed for a quiet and tranquil vacation, this waterside Cottage is a delightful choice at any time of the year.
This year-round home has everything you'll need for a week of summer relaxing, a spring break or fall getaway. The kitchen is fully equipped and has an attractive breakfast bar, with a dining table to one side. A living area complements the space, but we think most of the inside time will be spent in the delightful sunroom with beautiful water views. Comfortable wicker seating and huge windows that bring the outside in provide a great location for morning coffee and aperitifs alike.
There are three newly renovated (2013) bedrooms on the main level along with a full bathroom.
A spiral staircase leads to the lower floor which is a comfortable entertainment space with a large TV, plenty of books and games. There's also a woodstove for cooler evenings. A fourth bedroom and two-piece washroom completes the accommodation. High speed internet comes as standard in this cottage so you can keep in touch with the outside world sitting on the deck or relaxing in the sunroom. Sounds idyllic? We think so.
Although the waterfront has weed and is not ideal for swimming, just a 10 minute paddle out into the lake is a sandbar so you can take the canoe out there if you feel the need to get wet. The fishing is great directly from the dock so if that's your interest there is little need to go further afield. Alternatively, why not rent a boat from nearby Peel Marine and have it delivered to you. The reasonable rates for boat rental plus this value accommodation gives you a great vacation package without breaking the bank.
Picturesque Lakefield is a 15 minute drive with Peterborough, a mere 30 minute drive. Enjoy a drive around Stoney Lake and take in Petroglyphs Provincial Park, stop for lunch in Burleigh Falls; watch the boats at Youngs Point and sit by the water in Lakefield and enjoy home made ice- cream....and that just an idea for one day! There's lots to do in the area if you want to leave the tranquility of this lovely cottage.....we wonder if you will.+ More
