Property Description

The Jungle Farmhouse provides a unique Hawaiian experience where you can enjoy nature and seasonal fruit from our farm -- including fresh avocados, tangerines, passion fruit, pineapple, lemons, papaya, jackfruit and bananas. We also provide you with farm fresh eggs from our free range chickens. And NOW is a great time to stay at the Jungle Farmhouse. In July 0f 2016 a New LAVA Flow began flowing and it is currently flowing into the Ocean! And the farmhouse is just 15 minutes from the free lava viewing parking. And we can help arrange tours, bike rentals and provide maps, flashlights and headlamps so you can safely view the lava.

Our farm is a great place to experience and learn how food can be grown in a sustainable and organic way. The farm incorporates the lush rainforest with towering trees and we grow our food using the natural surroundings and permaculture techniques.

The location is great too! We are just minutes from Pahoa Village with great places to eat and shop, and close to Black Sand Beaches, Snorkeling, and Warm Ponds. Nearby farmer's markets provide more local

produce and locally crafted products.

The plantation style home has lots of windows and views of the natural surroundings, a washer and dryer, and covered parking. Two lanai (porches) on the front of the house and a huge screened lanai on the back of the house provides wonderful views of the tropical forest, gardens and farm. The lower patio features a dining table and gas grill and smoker too.

Built in 1970, it is a classic solid redwood home designed by the famous home builder Harold E. Hicks and features his signature design elements that include Clear Heart Redwood Interior and Exterior Single Walls. Oak Flooring was another key wood standardized design feature and offered durability and comfort as the lighter color of the oak complimented the redwood walls. Jalousie windows were a standard design feature to maximize the trade winds and, once again, the comfort of the homeowners.

The Living and Dining areas furnished with a great collection of antiques, are a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. Oriental rugs compliment the oak floors and the windows allow for great filtered lighting and cool breezes.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need

and includes a great collection of vintage dishes, gas stove and oven, microwave, large fridge, mixer, toaster, and coffee maker and a bar and counter with stools.

The three bedrooms offer sleeping for 6 in beds and we

can provide extra futons so the house can sleep up to

eight or ten if you use the couches! Two of the bedrooms have sliding glass doors that open to the lanai and one features a half bath and walk in closet. Towels and linens are provided, along with beach towels too.

The main indoor bath features a tub and shower and sink and has slate tile and redwood trim. There is also a outdoor shower overlooking the garden with hot water too! Our hot water is heated by the sun, using solar panels when possible and when its cloudy our electric heater kicks in.

We also provide:

Secure High Speed Wireless Internet

Cable TV, DVD/CD Player, A good collection of board games, CD's, records and DVD's and Snorkeling gear

Great house!

It made our Hawaiian adventure! The pics online don't do it justice. The animals are cute.. especially Wilbur the pig. It was close to stores, the volcano park and tidal pools! Our Host Paul was very attentive to our needs. The fresh eggs were delicious. The 3 beds were huge for our family of 4. We really enjoyed our stay. We will be back!

Ultimate Hawaiian get away experience

We wished we had booked several more nights at the jungle farmhouse! The nearby town very cute, with restaurants, shops, a local bar and a kava house. Very laid back and low key. The house was near so many beautiful locations. We especially enjoyed the snorkling and black sand beach, and of course viewing the lava flow. That's all we had time for i... Read More

An excellent stay. Beautiful, natural setting. Danny and Mathew were most helpful.

I'm still smiling!

Just got back from a fabulous trip to Hawaii. A first for us, and a special 80th birthday celebration for our mother. So... there were 5 adult family members sharing the Junglefarm for a week. We arrived after dark and were greeted by Danny who gave us a quick tour of the place and very generously answered our questions and spent time giving us... Read More
