Our Casita (little house) was originally a hand-hewn log stable from the 1870s. Once a home for 2 teams of workhorses that ploughed the land and skidded logs for the original homesteaders, we've given it a new life as our "little house" for human guests!
The Casita is a charming piece of Ottawa Valley history, and our renos have been done with respect to the past, but also to providing a quaint and comfy place for you to enjoy.
Welcome, witame, bienvenidos!
The Casita is a quaint and cozy self-contained cottage that comes with all the essentials.
The kitchen is complete with dishes, cookware, microwave, coffeemaker, kettle and full size gas stove and full size refrigerator/freezer. We provide the salt and pepper, you provide the rest! And if there is anything we may have forgotten to supply, just ask!
The bathroom is an oasis! Soak in the deep, full-size tub or have a quick shower. The rest of the main floor is a small living/dining area with a view out to the porch.
Upstairs in the loft area is your bedroom, with another small sitting/reading nook. Built-in closets provide storage, and a window-seat for daydreaming or stargazing.
Our favourite part of the space is a large covered porch with a southern exposure overlooking a perennial garden and the rock fences. Mix up your favourite drink, grab a chair and prepare to be relaxed! Please note that maximum occupancy is restricted to 2 adults.
Wilno is a wonderful eccentric little place, home to the world-famous Wilno Tavern, a fabulous Craft Gallery, and a variety of artisans that include potters, painters, weavers, knifemakers and woodworkers.
We are on the eastern edge of Algonquin Park and home to a number of beautiful lakes and rivers that are scattered throughout the area. There is no end of opportunities for canoeing, fishing, hiking, kayaking!
If entertainment is your thing, the Wilno Tavern hosts Blues Nite every Tuesday and the place is rockin'!! The first Friday of the month is country jam nite, so bring your guitar and get ready to join the band during an open set. We have a variety of artisan festivals throughout the year, including the Madawaska Studio Tour in July and October. An award winning tour, this is a perfect time to pick up a beautiful souvenir of your time in "the valley".
We love this area and are so proud to call it home. We are passionate about sharing the history and the magic of the area with our guests, and are looking forward to welcoming you to our little piece of heaven!
Some house rules: no parties, absolutely no smoking, no illegal drugs or activities tolerated. Occupancy is restricted to 2 adults and no pets allowed. We ask that you leave the Casita in the same condition as you found it, and that you respect the land and the natural habitat of our property. Check in time is anytime after 3:00pm and we ask that you respect a check out time of 11:00am.+ More
