At CottageLINK Rental Management, we are often asked "What waterfront cottages do you have that are within an hour of Toronto". If you know anything of the geography of Ontario, you know that this is a pretty tall order. So when we were able to bring Innisfil-on-the-Lake on board, we were delighted to be able to answer this question with a resounding "yes we have"! This cottage is a great option for Toronto residents who don't want to go too far from home and for travellers who want to soak in some cottage country as well as some big city attractions.
The cottage is on a quiet dead end street, yet an easy walk or bike ride into town where there are all the amenities one would want locally (including a well stocked library, huge grocery store, liquor, beer stores, banks, local restaurants, golf course, etc.). It is also a short walk or bike ride to Innisfil Beach public park, where there are ball courts, tennis courts etc. and a public boat launch. Of course, you are close to the bigger community of Barrie which has everyone one would ever want or need especially rainy days (movies, malls) and amazing restaurants.
Innisfil-on-the-Lake offers traditional lakefront cottaging with wonderful lake vistas in a setting designed to bring families together on the water. The entrance of the cottage is nicely landscaped on both sides, offering a warm welcome during your stay. When you enter the cottage, you are greeted by a very nice kitchen and dining area, a place to prepare and enjoy meals, with two walls of windows offering lake views. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare some great meals, and a BBQ awaits on the deck when you feel like grilling.
There is a large living/family room on the main floor. This is the gathering place, relaxing place, games place...the hub of the cottage. Of course, it offers views of the lake as well. Upstairs, you will find the sleeping quarters - Mom and Dad will appreciate the king sized bed and a balcony that overlooks the deck and lake - a wonderful place to enjoy a morning coffee before the family rises, or a late night glass of wine once the family has gone to sleep.
The waterfront is where this property really shines. A deck off the living and dining areas gives you outdoor comfort listening to the gentle lapping of the waves. The entry to the lake is sandy/pebbly, so swimming is fine here. There is a rowboat and paddleboat available to you for excursions up and down the shoreline...perhaps to cast a line or two and seeing what you can reel in.
Out and about, you have a world of options - you can venture a little nort to Barrie, west to Wasaga, and Northwest to Midland/Huronia. Of course, as we said, you are not far from the GTA, and only 60 km to Canada's Wonderland. The best of both worlds!+ More
