Not everyone has the same version of "it". To some, escaping from "it" may be the fast pace of city life. To others "it" may be to escape from the seclusion of country living.
whichever best describes "it" & your desire to escape , this humble 1+ acre property on the Huron River with direct access to the Portage Chain of lakes, will provide! Welcome to "MyChelle, on the River"!
Just the right amount of escape with everything else still within reach & nothing but fun in between it all.
Privately nestled on the river bank, this 792sf 2 1/2-bedroom, 1-bath cottage & property
is very quiet with 200+feet of panoramic views of both the river & nothing but nature across from it. The home is tastefully decorated and updated this 2016 season! A very comfortable, warm & intimate atmosphere with all new furnishings, newer appliances, fresh paint & updated fixtures. x3 brand new Queen sized beds & a very comfortable Futon which is also new, that folds out into a Full bed. There is one bed in each bedroom, one bed on the finished porch (arguably, the best room in the house) and the Futon in the living room, comfortably sleeping x8 people total. For entertainment, a brand new Vizio 43" LED TV with full surround sound system, BluRay disk player accompanied by a 200+ DVD library, as well as Cable TV, limitless high-speed internet & a Bose Wave radio.
There's also a small LCD TV with integrated DVD player, in one of the bedrooms. Just in case the kids can't stand what your watching. The Kitchen has all your basic necessities for those who may want to cook(but why, with all the great restaurants around?!). Microwave, Fridge, Range, Toaster, Coffee maker, skillets, silverware, dishes,etc.. For outdoor cooking a BBQ grille is also there for your use.
There is a Dinette table & chairs in the Kitchen & table with chairs in the Living room(with the most awesome view of the river:). There is a clothes washer & dryer available for your use with detergent & softener provided. Great as the house may be, the outdoors is where it's at! So much to do & enjoy outside, especially after the winters that we endure here in Michigan. Swimming, Biking, walking, Kayaking, if you decide to snorkel, THAT can be done enjoyably! Fishing just off the seawall rarely catches small fish, but rather larger game & a few trophy fish from small to large mouth Bass, the occasional Walleye and nice Pike. The location of this house & property is one of the top-ten fishing holes in the area. Pretty sure the smallest fish I've ever caught was a Rock Bass, which tend to grow a nice size here. Many mornings while sipping down my coffee by the seawall, I've had many conversations with anglers in their boats fishing the bank right across the river.
If you own a powerboat, I highly suggest you bring it! Plenty of room to tie her up at the seawall as well as room to keep your trailer. The entire chain of 7-lakes is a mere 7-minute boat ride away, which takes you out into Strawberry lake., an excellent lake for tubing/skiing, even just to set a couple mooring poles and spend the day on the sandbar at Snake Island. The boat launch is on Zukey Lake. I'd be happy to assist with launching & navigating to the cottage. For those into walking or Biking, the Lakeland trail is just up the street which takes you directly to our small shopping malls, or continue East to the town of Hamburg. To the West you can bike all the way through Stockbridge,MI., but don't forget to stop at the Zukey Lake Tavern along the way to get fueled up because it's a very long ride to the end! Speaking of the Tavern, this is also accessible by boat & have ample docking available .
In the summer months I do keep the lawn nicely manicured as well as sprayed for biting insects, so that the property can be enjoyed by day, as well by night around the fire pit which firewood is provided at no extra cost. There is also outdoor furniture provided for your enjoyment. All in all, this is a very comfortable, Family oriented property with much to offer!
Smoking is not permitted except outdoors only.
Absolutely no pets of any kind for any reason.
Children are welcome, however must be supervised.
Responsible adults only. This is a home. Not a "spring break party hut".
This home is not handicap accessible & may also be challenging for those blessed with a little extra.(small bathroom, narrow doorways).
Myself & a friend keep our boats tied up at the sea wall & may also use them from time to time during your stay. I will determine the best suitable location for your boat depending on its type & style. This will be your space for the duration of your stay. This is river-front property. I haven't a sand beach. Although there are no public beaches on this chain of lakes, there are many shallows and sand bars throughout, suitable for small children to swim and play.
