Harry's Historic Daisy Rock Cottage is a unique and charming property perfect for a romantic getaway, a retreat with friends, solo adventurers, and business travelers who want a quiet place to recharge or work.
Daisy Rock Cottage was home to Harry and Daisy Chepriss, from 1920-1990.
Harry was a Greek immigrant, who came to the US on a boat on his own, at the age of 14. He randomly landed in Asheville, like so many do, and thrived. Harry became a local celebrity, and was featured in many publications, including a UNCA Oral History of Asheville in the late 70's. Daisy was the love of his life, and together they built their home. The love they felt is apparent in the home's rockwork, gardens, and Greek inscriptions laced about the property. The fairyland feel is what drew my partner and I to this place, and we were lucky enough to become its stewards in Aug 2013. We immediately set to work revitalizing this property back to its former glory.
We remodeled the home using all natural products, and worked to create a comfortable space, with all the modern amenities needed, while still paying homage to the old world charm inherent in the property.
The custom designed kitchen pays homage to Harry's Mediterranean lineage, and our history as well, with a beach pebble backsplash, and countertop of Italian stone and beach pebble, and sanded grout.
The colors and feel of the Southwest are mirrored in the lounge, so as to relax and inspire. Sit and watch Netflix on our 32 in flat screen, or connect in with your laptop to the big screen. Or, just sit outside on the porch, listen to the crickets, and take in the greenery.
The bedroom colors were picked to create restful slumber, and sweet intimate moments. One of our king beds is high quality memory foam, the other is a Temperpedic with a down mattress pad. We use all cotton sheets/pillowcases.
Our goal is for all of our guests to feel the love, peace, and happiness that Harry and Daisy created here, and that we worked so hard to bring back to life. Please enjoy this home, and use it as a sanctuary during your visit to revitalize, rejuvenate, and feel restored during your time here. And may you find what you seek in Asheville!
Guests have access to all parts of the main part of the house, excluding the basement, and any outbuildings. You may relax on either of the porches, walk thru the rock paths, and please wander in the yard to enjoy the Greek writing and historic rock work.
Kitchen is stocked with basic cooking essentials, such as pots/pans, spices and cooking oils. Toaster and microwave. Cook as little or as much as you please!! There will always be organic coffee for you to enjoy, and we provide a french press as well as a traditional coffee-maker.
