Known for its world-famous oysters, Malpeque Bay is located in Prince County on the province’s central north shores.
While in Malpeque Bay, feast on oysters at Malpeque Oyster Barn and head to Cabot Beach Provincial Park to swim and sunbathe. Golf enthusiasts will enjoy playing at the area’s championship courses, which rank among the best in Canada. The trails of nearby Prince Edward Island National Park cater to bikers, hikers, horseback riders, and bird watchers in the summer, and cross-country skiers and snowshoers come winter. The park’s lakes, in addition to the ocean, provide opportunities for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. PEI National Park also features unique cultural resources, notably Green Gables Heritage Place and Dalvay-by-the-Sea National Historic Site. Lastly, be sure to check out the Indian River Festival Fine Music Series, which takes place in the neighbouring community of Kensington, at St. Mary’s Church.
