This traditional cottage is nestled in the cedars on a small ridge overlooking Pearl Lake. Pearl Lake is beautiful inland lake located in the heart of Saugeen Country, 10 minutes from downtown Hanover. The cottage is a good choice for couples or a family-oriented vacation.
The lake is about ½ miles long and over 90 feet deep in the middle. It’s great for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. The 1000 square foot, 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage features an elevated rear deck of about 300 square feet where you can relax in the fresh air and enjoy the lake view. The cottage is located on a private cottage road. Inside the cottage is an open plan living, dining and kitchen. The living area has two large picture windows and a patio door to take advantage of the lake view. There is a 50” satellite TV, radio, three sofas and 4 chairs for relaxing. Conveniently located between the living area and kitchen is the dining area with a table and eight chairs. The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishes and cutlery. There is a window in the kitchen and a water cooler for your drinking water. There are two bedrooms at the cottage each with good size windows to let in the breeze. There is a queen bed in one bedroom and bunk beds in the other bedroom. The bathroom at the cottage is a three piece sink, toilet, and shower. Outside and accessible from the patio door in the living area is the elevated rear deck. With two loungers, two Muskoka chairs, a propane BBQ, table with umbrella and 12 chairs there are plenty of options for enjoying the fresh air, catching some sun, relaxing with a good book, or socializing. After you have grilled your favourite vacation meal on the BBQ, you can sit down to enjoy an outdoor dinner while overlooking the lake. The large rear lawn is a great place for kids to play. Be sure to bring your outdoor yard games. It’s just a short stroll to the water. There is 70 feet of private waterfront and a 25 foot dock. The lake bottom is generally muddy but next to the dock is a sandy, gradual entry into the water for swimming or splashing around. Water depth at the end of the dock is about 6 feet. The dock is ideal for taking in a great panoramic view of the lake and evening sunsets. On the opposite side of the lake is a serene view of wooded, undeveloped shoreline. This view becomes spectacular in the fall when the trees are changing colour and reflecting upon the lake. There is great swimming off the dock or bring your rod and try your hand at fishing. If you have your own canoe or kayak you can explore the lake. If you don’t, no worries, there is a paddle boat, canoe with paddles, and 4 adult life jackets available for your use during your stay (young children always need to be supervised near water). There is also a fire pit at the shore where you can enjoy evening campfires, roasting marshmallows, taking in the starry night sky and sharing stories with friends and family. You are conveniently located just 10 minutes away from the town of Hanover where you will find groceries, good shopping, fine restaurants, friendly pubs, harness racing and gaming at the OLG Slots facility, movie theatre, library, parks, an indoor swimming pool and a number of area festivals and attractions to please the whole family. If you want to get out and explore the area, you can canoe/kayak and tube along the Saugeen River, take your camera and explore the area waterfalls, cycle and hike the trails at Allan Park Conservation Area, the Brant Tract or the 11 km Hanover Rail Trail along the Saugeen River.
