This nicely appointed 1,700 sq ft cottage is located on the Muskoka River, just 5 km from downtown Huntsville. The Town of Huntsville is a year-round destination with something for everyone to do twelve months of the year. The Muskoka River is great for swimming, fishing, and boating - making this a perfect family vacation choice. In front of the cottage is a convenient circular driveway that makes for easy driving in and out while here. The inside of the cottage is bright and spacious with plenty of large bright windows. The 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage features a large open concept kitchen, dining and sitting area at the front and a beautiful Muskoka room at the back. The dining room has a picture window with a dining table and chairs that comfortably seats six people.
The large kitchen area makes meal preparation a pleasure. It has a window over the sink and is equipped with dishes, cutlery, fridge, stove, oven, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker and tea pot. In the sitting area there is a comfortable couch for relaxing with your favourite book or sitting at the chess table for a game or two during your stay. The couch in the sitting area doubles as a pullout queen sleeper. The main bedroom has a queen bed, ceiling fan and three-piece ensuite bathroom with a shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed and skylight while the third bedroom has a double. There is also a sleep area at the cottage with a single/single bunkbed. The main bathroom is a four-piece with a combination tub/shower. There is also a washer and dryer for your convenience.
At the back of the cottage is the classic 'Muskoka' room with plenty of large windows, knotty pine walls and ceilings. It features a 42" TV, CD/DVD player and a gas fireplace. There are two cozy couches and two wingback chairs - a great spot for a relaxing morning coffee, afternoon conversations or enjoying an evening movie with your family. From the Muskoka room there are sliding doors to a large 300 square foot back deck with awning, a patio table, and chairs - the perfect spot to read, socialize, enjoy your favourite summer beverage, or roll out your yoga mat. There is also a gas BBQ for grilling your favourite summer meals. In the large garage area there is a games room with pool table, dart board and cards table that will keep the kids (young and old) entertained on a rainy day. The spacious rear yard has plenty of room for outdoor games and there is a firepit for sitting by the fire and roasting marshmallows at the end of the day. The rear yard is level and provides access to the waterfront (100 foot frontage) down an easy path. The waterfront has mostly natural vegetation with a small sandy entry area. The water depth increases sharply and at about 10 feet out, the water depth varies at 6-8 feet (younger children will need to be supervised). The exposure is north-west and there is a deck/dock at the shore where you can relax with a good book and a great view of the river. If you prefer, take a jump into the water for a swim or try your hand at fishing from the dock. The cottage comes with the use of a canoe and paddles to explore the river. If you have your own boat the Muskoka River provides opportunities for scenic trips through the locks and access to Fairy Lake, Mary Lake, Lake Vernon, and downtown Huntsville. Huntsville has a great system of trails, including the Trans-Canada Trail, as well as parks for you to do some hiking, biking - or simply take in the beautiful scenery.
Historic downtown Huntsville offers a wide variety of shopping, dining, entertainment, and arts & culture events and attractions including a Saturday morning farmers' market. Some of the great buildings and first class places to visit are the Algonquin Theatre, Muskoka Heritage Place, Waterloo Summit Centre for the Environment and Canada Summit Centre which includes the Active Living Centre.
