Centrally located in the heart of Seattle in the coveted Madrona neighborhood. Enjoy the City as a Seattle native! Walk four blocks to a wonderful selection of fine restaurants, shops, parks and views. Very easy downtown or Capitol Hill access from this comfortable, urban oasis with many great ammenities such as great cable package and FAST fiber optic WIFI for your business or trip planning needs.
One of our favorite things about the home is the view overlooking downtown, Madrona Valley and Capitol Hill from the master bedroom (city lights at night!). The front porch and sitting area next to the kitchen are both great for enjoying Stumptown coffee. Kitchen has stainless steel appliances and includes gas range, automatic ice-maker, filtered water, disposal, and dishwasher. Samsung high efficiency washer and dryer in the large unfinished basement. Cable TV on new 55" inch HD Samsung in main living room next to a newer high output gas fireplace that turns on and off with a handy remote control. High speed WiFi via fiber-optic cable. Sonos player for those who have the Sonos App and want to play their favorite jams via Spotify, etc.
Guests will have access to the entire home, grassy back yard (and new 4 burner BBQ) and patio, front porch, and basement complete with newer Samsung washer and dryer. Home has a convenient, electronic front door lock.
Madrona is the place to be if you want to live in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood yet still be within a stone's throw of downtown. OK, maybe not a literal stone's throw, but the residents do enjoy one of the lowest average commute times in the city. The neighborhood offers something for everyone - great restaurants, movie nights, cultural parades, outdoor concerts, knitting groups, parks and playgrounds, wine tasting, and a wonderful farmer's market just 2 blocks from the house from spring to fall. This is a true community, with everyone working together to make it the best place to be. It's no wonder Madrona is "the peaceable kingdom" and one of “Seattle's best kept secrets!"
Famed Chef, Ethan Stowell's restaurant Red Cow is a classic French brasserie and one of our favorites. Bottle House is another wonderful local location to enjoy wine and selections from their menu of delightful options. Vendemmia is another favorite of ours and is the most recent addition to the neighborhood opened by Chef Brian Clevenger. St. Clouds is a homey restaurant known for its brunch serving up Pacific NW comfort food & regular live music. The Madrona Arms was also recently opened and is great option for traditional pub grub, trivia night and rubbing elbows with the friendly locals. The Hi-Spot is an excellent place for breakfast or lunch - my menu favorites are the Bengal Benedict and the Ruben sandwich. Hitchcock is an amazing, one-of-a-kind jewelry store. Owner Erica Sheehan has never missed in helping us choose gifts often made by local artists. Glassybaby makes hand blown glass votives and if you stop by after dinner you can usually see the artists in action in the hot shop. We love exploring the neighborhood on a walk or a jog and take one of the many "secret" staircases leading down from 34th Ave towards the shores and beaches of Lake Washington. You'll come across many amazing homes, parks and views on the way to the publicly accessible shoreline park that runs south for miles to Seward Park which is a large wooded peninsula with a 2-3 mile running/walking path that goes all the way around the peninsula. Find Kurt Cobain Park and all of the other hidden, secret gems like the elevated boardwalk near the briar patch! Many other of our nearby favorite locations are in the central district and Capitol Hill where you can catch rock concerts and shows at Neumo's, Chop Suey or the famous Comet Tavern. Try Tavern Law among tons of other bars for a great cocktail in the secret upstairs speakeasy.
If you're headed downtown, consider taking the number 2 bus. The bus stop is about 100 yards from the front door of the home. Alternatively, we suggest using Uber or a taxi service for quick, convenient transportation. Other options include using the Car2Go or the new Pronto bike share services that offers 50 stations across the city to pick up and drop off bikes and helmets.
Other Things to Note
Like many garages in the Madrona neighborhood, ours is quite old and unimproved. Please do not park in the garage. There is ample street parking.+ More
