Surprise! The Monroe House is a historic gem on the outside and a bright, cozy, modern beauty on the inside. The home was gutted and remodeled in 2016 with a spacious new kitchen, bathroom and basement, that includes wood floors and a sunny, open floor plan that is both perfect for gathering and for every day use. With over 20 south facing windows the place boasts ample natural light, thoughtful, cozy bedding, and loungey places to put your feet up after a day in the Rocky Mountains or checking out the Mile High City. No cigarette smokers (gross), but who really minds if you partake in Colorado’s legal recreation side, when in Denver!!
The sleeping, lounging and dining situation is comfy all around. All bedding includes ample, plush anti-allergen, down-alternative pillows and comforters. The master bedroom has a king bed with a memory foam mattress, while the second bedroom has a comfy queen bed. The third bed is a folding designer couch in the newly remodeled basement, with equally cozy down bedding. The living room has new couch additions since the photos were taken, Smart TV with HBO GO, Sonos sound system, internet, DVD player, and games, and the dinning room table (with attached leafs and chairs not pictured) seats 8 comfortably.
The kitchen at The Monroe House is bright, spacious and well appointed, with more than enough counter space to cook and hang out. The kitchen is fully stocked with cook and bake ware, oven, 5 burner gas cook top, dishwasher, fridge, large pantry, glassware, servingware, bowls, blender, coffee maker, pots, pans etc. The bathroom was gutted and remodeled with plenty of storage and countertop space, Bluetooth sound system, a fantastic shower/bath and sunlight that streams in from the huge skylight above.
The house also has a front porch for people watching and a large, fenced in back yard (still in the process of updating the yard so no pics, but the gas grill is plugged in!) Pets are negotiable, but I don’t have any, so if your dog is the shedding type please let me know.
The best part of the Monroe House of course is the location!! Situated in the charming Congress Park neighborhood, you will experience quiet nights, ample on-street parking, and walkability to the best Denver has to offer, including three City parks, the Denver Botanic Gardens, the Natural History Museum, the Denver Zoo, 12th Street commercial district, Cherry Creek North Shopping area, grocery stores, and the Colfax Avenue commercial district. Colfax, to the north, is known as the longest continuous street in the US with endless bars, head shops, tattoo parlors, record shops, restaurants, theaters and coffee shops. While staying at the Monroe House you shouldn't miss out on an opportunity to see live music at one of Denver's long standing hot spots on Colfax such as the Bluebird, Ogden or Fillmore. For a completely different scene, head south instead to the swanky Cherry Creek North commercial neighborhood with boutique shopping, art galleries, furniture and design galleries, and plenty of excellent dining options.
The property is an easy uber or drive under 3 miles to downtown Denver where you'll find an incredible array of entertainment options. A few include Larimer Square (for foodies), Mile-High Stadium (for Broncos Games), Denver Center for the Performing Arts (Largest performing arts complex in the country), Coors Field (home of the CO Rockies), Elitch Gardens and Water World Amusement Parks, the Pepsi Center, the US Mint, 16th Street Mall, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and the downtown Aquarium. For accessing the mountains, or the front range Cities such as Boulder, Ft. Collins or Colorado Springs, both I-70 and I-25 are just minutes away.
