Very disappointing

This was very disappointing. The write up and pictures were not at all a true picture of the condition of this rental. The home was not as advertised. The yard was very overgrown and unkept and had plastic flowers in the flower boxes and urns. The furnishings in the living room consisted of a cheap college dorm looking metal couch and an outdat... Thank you very much for taking the time to review my property. I wanted to point some aspects of my Heritage Cottage Rental that anyone reading this review may be interested in knowing. My Niagara Heritage Cottage Rental was built in 1871 and I have been lovingly restoring it since 1988 when I purchased it. The photos of both the inside and outside of my cottage were taken by a professional photographer so I don't understand what you mean by and I I've taken your quote: "The write up and pictures were not at all a true picture of the condition of this rental. You mentioned about our garden. Please note that our garden changes with the seasons of the year and that's because it's a perennial garden. So the fact that it looks different is because it changes all year around. When you made your reservation, we sent you both the inside and outside of the garden videos for you to become familiar with our property. Yes, the garden is overgrown, and that has been done on purpose. This is my vision of what a garden would have looked like in 1871. The furnishings in the sitting room consist of a number of hand crafted period furniture pieces built by a Canadian/Florentine Artist/Master Craftsman. We have a futon that is used when we have extra guests wanting to stay with us and a comfortable couch. These have been used for practical purposes, otherwise I would have preferred period couches but that wouldn't be comfortable for our guests to enjoy. The shower door leaks only if our guests don't pull the shower door tightly behind them, as it would in any home. Please note that we are a licensed cottage and we have inspections done on a regular basis to ensure the safety of our electrical wiring. I thank you very much for taking the time to write your review and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to address your concerns. I look forward to having you stay with us again and to enjoy our very unique cottage, now that I've explained my vision of my heritage cottage. Cheers, Maria

Cozy comfortable xottage

The cottage is quiet and cozy with a well equipped kitchen. The garden has several nice spots under fruit trees to relax in private.

If you want to enjoy our cherry trees, you'll need to come in July when the cherries are ready to eat. We have been renting out our Heritage Cottage since 2000 and have had 100's of guests staying with us. dilapidated old house

Would never stay there again.

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry that you found our house to be a "dilapidated old house". Our house was built in 1871 and I'm very proud to be the owner of this Heritage home. I feel that it's my duty to restore and maintain my Heritage home and to maintain it as "authentique" as I can, so that other people can enjoy a little bit of Niagara history that I'm proud to be the caretaker of. I agree that perhaps some guests won't enjoy this very "authentique" feel and perhaps the guests who are a little "iffy" about staying with us, should consider other choices over my home. We are looking for guests who " enjoy experiencing" a bit of history, and not your run of the mill vacation rental home. We are looking for guests who want to experience peace and quiet in a very unsophisticated setting. We want to provide a setting where our guess can experience birds singing in the morning in our lovely, overgrown garden and may meet our family of racoons or skunks as they pass by to say "Hello". We're looking for some very "Special Guests", who will enjoy my very 'Special" Heritage Cottage Rental. See You All Soon in Niagara!! Cheers Maria Rekrut
