Immerse yourself in the Joshua Tree desert with breathtaking views at our home. Our unique property offers you modern conveniences and comforts, with the serenity of a private retreat providing a desert haven. We are the last property on our paved road, putting the wilderness at your doorstep and just a 10-minute drive to the JT National Park. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing hideaway, or you're ready to embark on an adventurous desert exploration, we have the perfect home for your stay.
Our 2 bedroom/2 bath, 1,205 sq. foot, modern home was custom built with large panoramic windows designed to deliver you with breathtaking desert and mountain views, and is located perfectly on the property to immerse you into the desert landscape while providing modern comforts and serenity.
The back yard connects to a natural desert wash, which keeps the back of the house protected from any future development and puts acres of protected remote desert wilderness at your doorstep. We have taken a lot of pride in landscaping the immediate area surrounding our home with desert flora and have built a waterfall pond that acts as a watering hole for many of the animals in the area (not to be used as a swimming pool). Enjoying the natural wildlife and being respectful of the natural environment is something we take very serious. While we encourage you to fill the water dishes around the property, increasing your chances of encountering wildlife, we also ask that you be careful where you step, and to be respectful of your surroundings by taking only pictures and leaving only footprints. You can be inside or on the porches and observe the quail, doves, bunnies, antelope squirrels and every once in a while we have a cool Road Runner friend coming to get a drink (usually most abundant early to mid-morning and again at sunset).
We have provided a large back patio so that you can fully enjoy the amazing sunsets and incredible stargazing. You can set it up with different chairs/lounges as you wish, which can be found in the garage or on the smaller covered patio. We have a remote-controlled retractable SunSetter awning that can overhang this large patio; this allows you to relax in the shade in the heat of the day, be sheltered from a light rain storm, or fully take in the endless night sky if you retract the awning fully. Please use common sense in regards to wind conditions when using the SunSetter (should not be opened on windy days). For your convenience the remote control is hanging inside by the patio door (please make sure you return the remote back to this spot at the end of your stay). Also, please note that there is an automatic wind sensor on the unit, and if it is too windy and it retracts and closes, under no circumstances are you to re-open it until the windy conditions change. Also please note that if there is a power failure for any reason, there is a manual crank hanging in the garage that can be used to open and close the awning. Please always completely close the awning anytime you leave the home.
If you are looking for more of an adventure, you can go for a leisurely hike on any of the dirt paths that begin at the end of our property line… we recommend always taking water with you and grab a walking stick!
We have also provided a fire pit area, but please be respectful of the dry desert environment and be very aware of the windy conditions. Please refer to the rules section for the safety and use of our fire pit.
Our home sleeps 1-6 people max.! While it can accommodate up to 6 people, we feel that it is more suitable for 2-4 people and is a great romantic getaway for couples. Please contact us for special couples pricing.....
The master bedroom is a very spacious room with vaulted ceilings and a large walk-in closet. It has a California king bed, a large bathroom with a walk-in shower, and mountain/desert views from every window. There is also a sofa and a 42” flat screen HD TV with Roku and Netflix for those days you just want to relax inside. Or there is a back door leading onto a cozy covered porch where you can sit and drink your coffee while taking in the desert sunrises and scenery.
The second bedroom is a bit smaller, but has a queen bed with a memory foam topper and another private bathroom with a tub/shower unit with tub enclosure. This room also has its own dresser and closet to make you feel at home.
The main part of the house consists of a large open dining and living area with vaulted ceilings and large windows transporting you out into the desert scene at all hours of the day. We have a large dining room table and the living room is a very vibrant, but relaxing space for everyone to enjoy. The large plush sofa can also be converted into a queen sofa sleeper if desired. There is a 52” flat screen HD TV with Roku and Netflix and many other channels available, along with a DVD player with many DVDs for your enjoyment. We also have some fun board games for other types of entertainment. There is also wireless internet available to all guests.
Our home also offers central heat and air conditioning along with portable fans and smaller space heaters so you can be as cozy or cool as you desire. We do request however, that you try to conserve as much energy as possible and often having the windows and door open allows you to enjoy the peaceful desert air that surrounds you.
We have a charming little kitchen that has been stocked with all the conveniences you will hopefully need. This includes a full-size refrigerator, microwave, oven, dishwasher, coffee pot, toaster, blender, two Brita water filters, dishes, pots and pans and other basic things needed to make most meals. The kitchen sink is also equipped with a garbage disposal, but we ask that you do not put any large items of food down it, but rather throw left over food into a trashcan.
The garage is equipped with a washer and dryer for those guests staying for 7 days or longer. But it can be used for an additional fee (price can be negotiated with owner depending on your needs) if you are staying for a shorter time frame. There is also a clothes drying rack available for everyone’s use. Please try to conserve water as often as possible as California is in a severe drought and to be respectful of the fact that you are in a desert environment where water is a precious resource.
Linens and towels are provided for our guests, along with bathroom toiletries and a hair dryer for your convenience. You will also find an array of extra pillows and blankets, so that you may make your stay as comfortable as possible.
We also have motion sensor lights around the property, but these may be manually turned off at the light switch if you would like to have less light so you can enjoy the stars and the Milky Way that lies above in the vast sky. But please turn all motion lights back on before leaving at the end of your stay.
Our housekeeper is thorough, but the house is not air-tight due to a natural cooling system in the venting space above the ceiling. This means there may be dust in the air and inside the house, especially when it gets windy. There may be dust on some of the surfaces when you arrive, but this doesn't mean it hasn't been cleaned recently, it simply is the cost of living in the desert.
Our neighbors are close enough to keep an eye out for each other, but far enough away to provide complete privacy. Our home is intended to be a peaceful retreat. Parties and loud noise are not tolerated by the owners or surrounding neighbors. Please be respectful, and enjoy the peace and quiet the desert has to offer.
The entire house and yard is available for our guests, except that we require that no vehicles be parked in the garage. There are also a few locked cupboards in the garage and one locked storage chest in the master closet, where we store some of our personal belongings that we ask be respectfully left alone, but everything else you are welcome to enjoy.
Interaction with guests:
We are always just a phone call or text away and are always happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have as we want you to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Joshua Tree Oasis is located on a paved road in a quiet neighborhood in Joshua Tree just a few blocks from Highway 62 and main downtown, and is only 6 miles from the entrance to the National Park. As we are the last house on the street, there is a dirt road and many sandy trails to take you straight into the desert wilderness from our back patio. You can enjoy morning or evening hikes, bike rides or wildlife watching right from our home.
We definitely highly recommend having a car, to get into town or to the park, but if you are athletic enthusiasts then biking or walking to town is possible. But please keep in mind the weather can change quickly and it is important to always have adequate water supplies, sunscreen and appropriate clothing with you at all times (the desert weather can change quickly).
The village of Joshua Tree itself is a quaint, diverse and walkable town, with one-of-a-kind art galleries, unique boutiques, health food stores and restaurants and even a saloon. Multiple outfitter stores offer climbing and hiking supplies, books and information, and of course the National Park Visitor’s Center. Saturday mornings there is a Certified Farmers Market right in town. While you can find most things you need in the village, if looking to stock up on groceries and any other supplies, Yucca Valley is just right down the highway from Joshua Tree.
Other things to note
Sometimes there are power outages in the area caused by storms, so if you find the stove and microwave clocks flashing, that means there was a power outage. If there is a power outage while you are there, several of our night lights turn into flashlights, but there is also a flash lights in the hall cupboards off the kitchen for your use.+ More
