Tin Poppy is a remote solar powered vacation rental located in the Larch hills between the Shuswap and the North Okanagan valley. Tin Poppy is a 1953, 32 foot travel trailer approximately 200 square feet, encased in a modern screened-in post and beam structure bringing the space up to 1200 square feet in total. All four seasons offer spectacular outdoor activities, so whether you're into mountain biking, birding, cross country skiing, fishing the Shuswap River, or simply seeking solitude in a beautiful natural setting, Tin Poppy provides a splendid and luxurious habitat. Tin Poppy can accommodate up to 5 guests in the spring and autumn and 8 in the Summertime. The master bedroom inside the trailer has a comfortable queen size 8 inch high density foam mattress. In the second bedroom there is a twin bed with a 6 inch memory foam, and in the living room there is a double pull-out couch. The Toilet Room in the Tin Poppy has a modern flush toilet and sink; there is also a clean and modern outhouse. All the linens and bath robes are provided and are quality, high thread count cotton. Tin Poppy has a private outdoor shower equipped with hot water on demand. Tin Poppy also has a 6 person wood-fired sauna. The kitchen is well-equipped with a stove/oven, fridge/freezer, and BBQ. Tin poppy has high speed internet! Wintertime at Tin Poppy is best suited for outdoorsy couples and small families who love cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or just hanging out in a peaceful remote setting. The cozy 200 square foot solar powered trailer is heated with a propane furnace. Because of the remote location and challenge with year-round heating we shut off the water to the trailer, shower and bathroom in the wintertime and the sauna and “scoop” shower provide the only bathing. Master bedroom in the trailer has a queen sized bed, there is a twin in the middle room, and a queen sized fold down dinette i. In the summertime there are two double hide a beds, one in the upstairs lookout, and one in the main area.
There is much to do in this beautiful part of the world, so bring your hiking boots, bikes, canoes, kayaks and fishing rods. Enderby Cliffs Provincial Park is a 20 min drive from here. The Shuswap River is a 20 minute down hill bike ride from the Tin Poppy. Star Light Drive-In is a 25 min drive away. The Roots and Blues Festival is in Salmon arm in August features music ranging from Blues to Bluegrass, Celtic to Cuban and Americana to Afro-beat. Wine sampling at the Larch Hills Winery is only a 10 min drive. Fishing for Chinook salmon in the Shuswap River in August. Take in professional theatre at the Caravan Farm Theatre. And over 100 kilometres of trails for hiking and mountain biking in the Larch Hills (the Larch Hills trails connect to Rubberhead and South Canoe mountain bike trails.
Ski the day away up at the beautiful Larch Hills Cross Country Ski Trails with 50 km plus of groomed for classic and skate, as well as 14 km of snowshoes trails.A short drive approximately 10 min (6km), to Larch Hills Cross Country Ski Trails. Suggested day use donations are: $10.00 for skiing and $5.00 for snowshoeing.
Please do up all your dishes before you check out. Summer in the Okanagan can be hot and tinder dry, so smoking around the fire-pit ONLY! Please keep pets off the furniture and supervised at all time, we have a small hobby farm and often our chickens are free ranging. Tin Poppy runs on solar power so please turn the furnace off or down whenever you leave, and the lights off too, thanks. Tin Poppy also gets its water from a shallow well, so we ask you to keep your showers on the shorter side.
