We welcome you to stay with us at the Lake Shore Salzburger Hof for a fabulous vacation experience on the Heritage coast of Lake Superior in Ontario Canada. Relax and enjoy the breathtaking view overlooking Batchawana Bay from any of our spacious accommodations. We offer motel, studios with kitchenettes, one bedroom suites, two bedroom chalets & a three bedroom log cottage with fireplace for daily and six nights or more vacation packages.
We are striving to provide excellent meals and accommodations while showing off our spectacular scenery.
You are invited to stay awhile and enjoy our magnificent Heritage Coastline, inland forests, crystal clear lakes, streams and waterfalls. Inhale the perfume of wild flowers, savor the tartness of berries still on the vine and listen to the cry of seagulls as they whirl and dance on overhead breezes.
Laze the day away on one of the lawn chairs provided while listening to the splash of waves as they tumble over the cobblestone beach. When you are ready to explore, we'll be there to point out the local interests and attractions.
At days end, dine with us on sumptuous Austrian cuisine or locally caught trout and whitefish, in our acclaimed Salzburger Hof Dining Lounge. Before settling in for the night, watch the moon rise over the purple hills and the stars fill up the dark skies overhead. If you are lucky, the distant cry of loons will float over the bay to wish you good night.
Morning brings an apricot colored sunrise from your front window and the twitter of bluebirds announces another beautiful day. Don't forget to try our delicious pancakes or French toast piled high with fresh fruit in the Club Gazebo Restaurant before heading out on another day's adventure!
Ann, Karen, Sylvia, Ben, Armando and all of our staff hope to make your stay with us inviting and memorable, and that this is one of many return trips to visit with us at Lake Shore Salzburger Hof Resort.
Things To Do
Within minutes of the resort, there are two Provincial Parks with fantastic beaches. Batchawana Bay Provincial Park boasts some of the warmest waters in Lake Superior, while Pancake Bay Provincial Park overlooks the area where the Edmund Fitzgerald freighter went down. Further north brings you to the Lake Superior Provincial Park, site of the Pictographs at Agawa Bay. Numerous inland lakes and rivers are just waiting for you to dip your paddle or toss in your lure. Kilometres of hiking trails, from easy to difficult, for young and young at heart, take you to scenic vistas or woodland retreats. Guide books are provided at the Park offices and on the Internet. The award winning interactive visitorâ??s centre at the Lake Superior Provincial Park gives a great overview of the flora and fauna of our area.
Many old mining and logging roads in the area are along streams and rivers giving you easy accessibility to waterfalls, rapids and pools for fishing or just wetting your feet after an afternoon hike or vigorous biking trek.
Night time brings dark skies filled with stars, planets and constellations. We have a south-east exposure, which is perfect for watching the moon and planets rise over the distant hills while you either can sit by your window or relax outside on a lounge chair in peaceful contemplation. Donâ??t forget to make a wish on a falling star! We try to practice a dark sky philosophy so that our guests are able to appreciate the full beauty of all those stars and perhaps check out a few satellites that go blinking through our night sky. Looking northward on August nights, you have a great opportunity to view the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) as it fills the sky with dancing colours.
