Dorset, home to Canada’s most popular country store – the famous Robinson’s General Store – is also where you’ll find some of the region’s best cottage experiences. Ontario Cottage Rental’s Avalon Cottage on Otter Lake is one of them, and its picture-perfect south-facing view through tall hemlock and pine trees keeps guests coming back year-after-year.
With four bedrooms and a sleeping capacity of ten, Avalaon Cottage is bright and airy thanks to its many windows. The upper level has two bedrooms, one with a queen and the other with two single beds, plus a three-piece bathroom with twin sinks and a Jacuzzi tub. The upper level is also where you’ll find the kitchen with its table seating for up to ten guests, and the living room, each sharing the same lovely views over the lake.
Another two bedrooms are found on the lower level, one featuring a queen and a set of bunk beds, the other with a queen and a single bed (it also offers wonderful views over the lake). A three-piece bathroom with a shower is also located on the lower level, along with access to a large lower deck.
Avalon has three decking levels, each enticing guests to stop and relax while soaking up the sun. The upper main level deck leads to a large level grassy area, while a gently sloping path heads toward the waterfront. Here you’ll find a large dock and shoreline that’s perfect for younger children to play on thanks to its sandy, shallow water entry. Boaters will want to make use of the nearby public boat launch.
